This flash is easy to use or has great potential for the most advanced photographers. I am watching youtube to learn how to use the amazing features this flash offers, but it is well worth my time. Some of the great features include: multi-directional pivots to bounce the flash, get filters that snap onto the flash, flash diffuser, a stand for using the flash as a slave, the intuitive communication between flash and camera, nice bag to hold it all, the ability to use it as a master flash, and many, many more. Also, while learning, I have watched many reviews of this flash and all are glowing admiration for the vast potential and great value that is afforded the owner of this AMAZING product. Thank you Nikon. I use it with my SLR Nikon D40 and am loving it!
I have a SB 600 and was pleased with the simplicity on the SB 700. I no longer have to hold down two buttons while jumping up and down on one foot!!!!
This is an amazing an powerful flash. I love the warmth it gives to the photos when using it as a bounce flash. I love the versatility of being able to adjust where to point the flash. I'm still figuring out all the things it can do but I quickly learned how to use it the best to my liking. I seriously don't think you will regret buying this flash. I compared it to the sb-600 and the reason I didnt get it was because after watching so many reviews online and YouTube, this best fits someone who is just learning or still learning about photography. I'm positive you will be happy with your choice.
What a difference a good flash makes! I used the onboard flash of my D3200 for a year or so, knowing it wasn't helping make decent lowlight pictures. Unfortunately I listened to some poor advice that "all electronic flash are the same" on a few of the forums. Now I know better. Pay the money; get the results you want in low light situations or using it for fill. My refurb unit was cosmetically perfect and its performance has been stellar as I would expect from anything with Nikon's name on it.
I purchased this item to resolve a shadow in my photos taken with my wide angle lens. The Speedlight resolved the issue perfectly. My photos are great quality now.
The flash is all we hoped it would be. It can be used as a slave or master easily. It comes with a case, diffuser, incandescent and fluorescent filters. The flash knows what filter you are using and so, adjusts automatically for the appliance attached. The product is perfect for our needs. The bounce card and flip down wide panel also work well . Luckily Nikon has downloadable manuals, since the seller did not provide it. There was absolutely no paperwork with the flash.
This flash was purchased to act as a flash commander for remote SB 600s. New D500 has no on camera flash and loses the optical flash commander capability of the D300s. Easy set up, simple easy to use menu system. Would give it 5 stars but the package did not include the manual. This flash is not restricted to the cameras Nikon cameras listed in the product description.
The product was exactly as advertised. Shipping was included in the price, and the delivery was as scheduled. The strobe is matched to my camera, so the actual product choice was never in question. The only thing that precluded a 5-star rating was that it did not come with a user's manual.
Flash works perfectly with my d7200 in auto mode. Pivoting head and filters allow for nice indoor lighting control. Still have a lot of features to explore!
Compared with other speed light using 4 AAs, the lighting coverage is 20-30% weaker. The advantage is in features like TTL, zoom and some auto modes.
