Nordic Ware Microwave Veggie Steamer, Red, 10.4" x 6.6" x 2.1"

This is a perfect little steamer for veggies in the microwave, and it is much faster than using my large electric steamer, or even doing the seating on the stove with a pan and steaming trivet. The price is good and this looks like a quality steamer and even has a vent in the lid.

I use it for my precooked chicken breast, i hate dry chicken. This steamer is a life saver. easy to use 4 minutes at a time is ideal i've found, vent, then another 4 minutes.

Does exactly what it says it's supposed to do, which is steam your vegetables, easy microwave and easy cleanup- Wash by Hand

Fantastic quality. Clean edges. Holds shape from microwaving. Love the crisp red color. Works great. Using for frozen vegetables, I do 6 minutes on high (with 1/4 cup water in bottom). Only problem I have is getting vegetables out without including the water (steamer tray should have a lip around to stop vegetables from falling off, plus tray is hot).

They were fresh, juicy and perfect for my cucumber salad.

I use this for frozen veggies, but it's a hassle. The shallow, rectangular shape means I can't put a lot in there. Also, because the steamer grate isn't a basket, smaller items like peas, chopped carrots, corn, etc, roll through the finger holes on the side, falling into the water. If I lift the grate, peas just roll everywhere. If I try to tip the water out first without removing the grate, the food gets soaked.

The first time I used it it was great and then every time since then you have to put a weight on top of it to keep the lid on it or just pops off and it's useless

Initially I was happy I found this to replace the original Nordic ware design I had for many years. It was redesigned looks great has the same inside tray I liked BUT the lid will not stay! It was redesigned to sit “into” the bottom and it just won't stay on. Also the lid does not fit under the base for storage so it falls around. I use a rubber band to keep it together. This is a redesign FAIL. It's vey annoying and I bought 2 and both are the same. The original was much better - the top fit onto the bottom and could stack together to store.
