Nostalgia Retro Hot Chocolate Maker, Red

If you are old enough to remember Nestle's frothy hot chocolate drink you got at the airport or corner drugstore counter for a quickie breakfast this is what you have been looking for! And you can have much more than that little 4 oz cup! Just follow the directions on your favorite hot cocoa beverage, it's as good as you remember.

My kids became obsessed with hot cocoa made out of chocolate shavings this year (like williams sonoma sells) and it was a total pain to heat milk on the stove hot enough to get the shavings to melt in the mug. This little gadget warms the milk slowly without scalding it, melts the chocolate shavings and mixes the 2 perfectly. I wasn't sure how will it would work since it was relatively cheap but so far so good!

I can't speak to the ease of use but it seemed like a decent quality hot chocolate maker. My nephew was thrilled to get it Christmas morning and that was all that mattered to me.

Easy to use. A little hard to clean and make sure you don't fill it up like the book says, we had foam coming out the top and everywhere on our first run. Now we have the hang of it and turn out at least 8 cups of hot chocolate a day

I bought this item for my son and his wife. They couldn't wait for Christmas, so I gave it to them early. lol They love it so much that they have converted their kitchen island into a "Hot CoCo Station". LOL So, yes I would recommend this product.

We have two of the red ones in the past and they lasted a couple of years. We have learned it's be at to get the extended warranty. This time we got the black one and I love it! It makes 4 coffee cups of fresh hot cocoa. We make hot cocoa every Sunday evening as a treat. It makes the best hot cocoa! The cocoa maker arrived quickly and was very carefully packaged. I would definitely recommend this to anybody. It actually holds 42 ounces and does not over flow when it's frothing like others we have tried. It's built very well and looks nice sitting out too. And the cord wraps into the bottom of the machine so the cord does not hang over the counter

I like this product, but it feels very cheap. I used 3 cups of milk and it definitely was felt in the motor. 2 cups at a time would be better. It's very easy to use an perfect for kids who want to make their own hot chocolate. It really did heat cold milk within 6 minutes and stirs it well. It's perfect for the occasional cup of cocoa, but probably couldn't handle being used every day.

This is our 2nd Hot Choc Maker. The 1st was by Mr. Coffee and motor was very loud. But we used it every winter for several years until we finally wore it out. Found this pretty red one and bought one for ourselves and another as a gift. Machine is very attractive - don't mind leaving it out between uses. Runs MUCH quieter than our old one. The only thing that is disappointing ... the old machine (Mr. Coffee) would automatically stop running when beverage was properly heated. And, would restart automatically to keep the beverage at the right temp. This new one does not have that feature .... you have to let it run a few minutes, dispense a small amount & try it. If it's not hot enough, you let it run some more and repeat the process. We just about have it figured out for a 2-serving batch but if we make a larger batch, we'll just have to figure it out again. Other than this little disappointment, we are quite satisfied especially considering (1) the very reasonable price, (2) the quiet running motor, and (3) how attractive it is on the counter. We've used it for less than 2 weeks so don't really know if it's as durable as the old Mr. Coffee Hot Choc Maker but so far it's just fine. Makes perfect hot chocolate using milk or water. Also, we use it for Instant Hot Apple Cider .... delicious. The individual who recd the other machine from us as a gift has told us twice already that they are really enjoying it, too.

Seems to be a good product with a couple of drawbacks. First, there is no automatic shut off. You have to time the heating and frothing process and shut it off yourself. Easy enough to set a timer and walk over to shut it off yourself since you are going to have to pour yourself a cup anyhow. Second, the measuring marks are not colored so it makes it hard to see the fill lines as you are adding the water or milk. Easy enough to grab a sharpie marker and color the marks to help with visibility.

I love this little machine! It's a bit loud, but works wonders. Only one problem with it and that's cleaning it. The chocolate can get stuck underneath the seal inside the bowl.
