This was my first time using and ordering Agar Powder. I, like so many, have always used gelatin as the ingredient for jelling mixtures. This past couple months I have been experimenting with making homemade gum drops. My goal has been to make gum drops that not only have a nice consistency but also do not contain as much sugar as many recipes call for and I want them to have nice fruity flavors. So after some research I found out about Agar Powder. It is the answer I was looking for. I am very pleased with the size and effectiveness of the Now Foods Agar Powder. The amount is nice because it gives me enough to make lots of batches without feeling like I have far more than needed. For my purposes I can take 2 cups of my home squeezed fruit juice and pulp and I only need to use 2 teaspoons of the Agar powder to make nice fruity drops that are gelatinous enough for my desired drops and unlike when using gelatin I do not end up with a super sticky surface requiring me to roll the drops in sugar so you can handle them. I really like this product and plan to continue using and ordering it when this bottle runs out. Ordering it through WALMART was as easy as it could be and I received the order quite quickly. 2 thumbs up!

The Agar powder has no taste. However, when I tried to make a fruit jelly, using 1 t per 6 oz. of liquid as per instructions, the end product was very hard on the surface and overall too solid. I will try again and use less powder.
