Sodium ascorbic acid

Maria February 26, 2017

I did not know there was such a product. I only knew about plain ascorbic acid and I read about sodium ascorbic acid being so called better or complete. I have been satisfied. There is not a bitter taste. Actually doesn't taste like anything but changes texture of water which I don't mind. Sometime s I will use both at one time. I would recommend for anyone to use vitamin C. I've used it for most of my life and it does keep my system healthier. There is a noticeable difference.

Best Alkaline Vitamin C

charia September 5, 2013

There are many Vitamin C in the market but mostly acidic because they're made with ascorbic acid. This one is different, it's alkaline, a very beneficial thing to your immune system. My family had been talking this for many years and are happy for its valuable benefits and good price.

Great value for esterified Vitamin C

Abbycat March 14, 2013

Sodium ascorbate powder can be hard to find. I'm glad Swanson carries this product. It is very convient. When I add it to water it tastes like I'm drinking softened water. The kids like it in water also. However, I can't get my husband to drink it. His taste buds are much more sensitive than mine and he thinks it tastes and smells like fish. But we'll continue to use it because its a great value if you are looking for an esterified form of vitamin C.

Is what it is

johnw April 24, 2013

Sodium ascorbate is the kind used for ultra hi doses of IV vit C. It tastes not bad, is cheep, can be added to any liquid with easy dissolving, and the pharma-grade from Now is what you want.

We love that this product is 100% vitamin-C

Anonymous August 28, 2021

We love this product for listing 100% vitamin-C, without other ingredients. That little details is a major advantage over many products, because it suggests there are no unnecessary ingredients here. What we do not love here, is that sometimes the product is not perfectly white in color, and may seem to have a faint yellowish offcolor. The product label says that such faint color may be a normal aspect of the product; however, we do wonder if yellowish tinge might be related to partial oxidation. Vitamin-C is an anti-oxidant, so obviously a sign of oxidation would hypothetically suggest reduced effectiveness. But on that count, we do not know.

Oxidate batch

nightlight May 26, 2014

The most batch I got of 3 bottles had the powder yellowish to dirty orange color. After noticing lack of effectiveness in Liposomal C form, I researched the color issue and this color of Sodium Ascorbate indicates oxidation & breakdown (even though the expiration date is August 2016). For comparisons, the Swanson's powder is off-white, which is the right color for non-oxidated product. While NOW has a good price, their uneven quality is a big problem. I had to dump 3 bottles into trash. Hence, the only pure Sodium Ascorbate powder on Swanson's is their own brand.
