We don't need a cracker often, but when we do we usually need at least 4. When we moved we lost track of two, so it seemed a good time to get two more. This is similar to my favorite, with an improvement: silicone grips; my old one was made more than 30 years ago, before silicone grips were on everything. This one is simple, with only one moving part so it should last at least as long. It went into the dishwasher first thing and came out intact. The curved jaws grip different sizes. The price is higher, but, it's been 30 years.

Number one was it was large enough not to slip out of my husband's large hands. Being a senior also meant he didn't have to use a much pressure.

The quality of this opener is very good. Solid construction and heavy enough to crack hard nuts. My only concern is that the metal is somewhat slippery. The only improvement I would make would be a brushed or textured finish for better handling. I believe this opener will last for many years because of its sturdy construction.

Instead of sending us this nut cracker they sent us 3 stuffed fabric pumpkins.. am sooo frustrated.. took 3 weeks to get to us because it ships from China so there isn't any way to remedy this mistake.. every time i order through walmart and it's a 3rd party vendor the order gets screwed up like this one... take a look at the attached image.. does that look like a nutcracker???

This nutcracker is made of poor quality alloy metal and is very brittle. Its handle broke while I was trying to crack a hazelnut. I only had it for less than 1 year and used it a few times. I wasted my money.
