I have used multiple Nutricost products and feel that I get my money worth. Same product as "name brands" but without all the pricey advertisement and keeping the pricing affordable. If you have never tried unflavored BCAAS before be advised it smells funky but they all do that are not flavored. I currently use several supplements, so I just make sure that one of them have flavoring or it is too sweet for me.
If you have a weak stomach, unflavored is not for you. If you want to recover better after an intense workout, avoid a lot of sugar, and do it for a price that can't be beat, you need to buy this. I used to workout without supplements. I did a lot of different things: cycling, weight training, running, HIIT, boxing--really, anything intense, hard, or painful to keep in shape. After a while I started incorporating supplements to get better results and push my gains. Protein shakes, creatine, caffeine, and finally BCAA's. Each of those added a little more relief or better prep for my workouts. None of them made me feel as ready for my next workout as BCAA's though. Really, this stuff is gross. It smells bad, it tastes bad, and it doesn't mix super well. But at this point, I'm not working out without it. My recovery time has gotten so much better; the intensity is getting better; I feel like I have more energy before, during and after; and I just can't stress how much better my muscles feel the day after a workout now. The price is good, the packaging is simple, the product is fantastic. No nonsense supplement for no nonsense workouts.
I really have a difficult time with the complaints about the flavors. Do people not understand those flavors are not real and nothing more then sugars and chemicals, my body doesn't need that. I'm an avid CrossFit junky and don't need anything artificial in my routine Eat clean, get results
Pros: Mixes great into liquid. Great value for the money for a BCAA. Cons: Tastes absolutely terrible (so i mix in with 50/50 flavored BCAAs). Even though it's "flavorless" it's got just a terrible taste. So much so your body almost rejects sip after sip. It's a cheap BCAA so if you only use this I'd recommend chugging the water as fast as possible followed by a chaser or piece of gum.
I just CANNOT handle the flavor of this powder. I've only had it two days so I can't really say how well it works on muscle recovery yet (so far no stiff pain from the gym), but I already think I'm gonna return it because it just tastes SO BAD. I only got it because my bf recommended that I get a BCAA in it's purest form (2:1:1) without the added sugars for flavor. He has the capsule version though for his, which are too big for me to swallow. This powder is the purest form but the taste is god awful, no matter what you mix it in. I can't drink this everyday for 3 months straight! I will cry. It tastes just like a pill when you crush it and taste the powder inside, ever tried that? Ugh!!! I feel like I gotta go puke now, excuse me.... :'(
This is extremely bitter. I have used BCAAs for 2 decades and have never had anything this bitter in my life. It is so bitter tasting that it makes my stomach churn. EDIT: I have been drinking unflavored BCAAs for going on 2 decades. So I have plenty to compare against. Those that say "they are all bitter", yes they are, but not as bitter as that batch I got. Even a more recent container of this same brand was not nearly as bitter as that batch. So there are some consistency issues with this brand.
BCAAs are well, BCAAs:) Essential for protein driving, namely Leucine. Highly disappointed to have received a mystery flavor after having ordered unflavored. The flavor isn't illustrated on the label, but it tastes terrible (glad that I have a tough stomach to handle it). It seems to be a lime flavoring, but it's definitely worth making sure you receive the correct flavor as you ordered (unlike what happened to me).
Flavorless? This definitely has a flavor...and smell...both BAD! I just couldn't find a BCAA product that did not have artificial sweeteners in it. I thought by going "flavorless" I would solve that problem. Unfortunately I dread consuming this product. I like to drink my BCAA's while I workout. But there is absolutely no pleasure in drinking my water during my workout now. Very dissappointed.
I'll give this product zero stars if I could only because it is advertised and sold as unflavored and it actually had a discussing flavor to it. You can't mix it in anything because it will mess up the flavor of any smoothie, juice or liquid you pour it in. So bad
I know BCAAs are not supposed to taste great, but I'm used to using Ajipure version, which aren't that bad. I decided to return this Nutricost version as soon as I opened it. Smells like rotten milk, made me wonder if this is actually a vegan product since it's not indicated anywhere.
