Makes great shirataki noodles
Update: May 9th, 2020 still very happy with it. I've used it as a thickener in some recipes. It thickens slowly in colder liquids but does keep getting thicker after you think it's done. I add very little because of this. It's definitely not corn starch s ok be cautious if using for thickening. For weight loss I couldn't be happier. March 2020 - This really works. I will update in a couple of weeks but for now after taking it for two days in impressed. It fills me up and I'm definitely eating less. I'm finding that I'm full for several hours. Do I still want to snack while I'm bored? Yeah but I have to be mindful and keep myself from doing that. It is definitely easier with this product. Thanks to the reviewer who said a scoop is 1/4 tsp. My container didn't have a scoop, or maybe it's buried down in there but I didn't find it. Also thanks to the reviewer who noted that it gels very quickly in hot liquids. I put it in my morning protein smoothy and it's perfect. Tried it in my hot tea and it gelled so quickly I couldn't finish it. LOL I've noticed no flavor, it mixes easily. I have used a spoon as well as an emersion blender. I think the blender is better but it can be done without one. It is a fiber so it can cause gas. I imagine that my body will adjust to it. It does make you regular. The main point is it fills me up and I'm not eating as much.
I had been taking Glucomannan in capsules to help suppress appetite. I found that it worked well, but I got tired of swallowing the capsules. Also, the capsules tell you to be sure to take with a lot of water. There is a danger of choking if the capsule melts and the Glucomannon starts to swell while it is still in the throat. So there is always the worry about that. That is why I looked for a powder form. This seems to do the trick. I take it dissolved in water, but I think I'll try it with a small bit go yogurt. It doesn't have a taste, although it gets a little slimy when dissolved in water. That's why I'm thinking a little yogurt or cottage cheese or something else soft might be a better carrier for palatability.
It does not take much to thicken up any liquid and there is no way you cannot lose weight by using this to increase volume of foods as it is zero calorie and zero net carbs. There is NO flavor or aftertaste either which is perfect for what I'm using it for.
I've recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and I'm having to get creative about how to continue eating some of my favorite meals. Sauces and gravies are one of the biggest hurdles because using regular flour, or corn starch are big no-no's on my new diet. This stuff works, really well, thickens my sauces and gravies while adding no sugar carbs. Has no discernable taste, so what I end up with is a nice thick sauce that tastes as good or better as my previous recipes! The price tag for me was scary, but when I realized that I only use a teaspoon at a time, this stuff is going to last a long long time!
So far I'm unsure how I feel on the product. 1. There is a taste, if not mixed with something of flavor. 2. It gels off you don't mix it well or it is dumped in too fast. 3. The first night I woke up with terrible cramping and now get cramping here and there, but also would go days without a bowel and so far I've gone daily, sometimes multiple times a day. This is my 3rd day taking it. So as time goes on I hope things get better.
Well it helps me feel better. It’s supposed to help with constipation but doesn’t. It helps bind me up. The D-Mannose works way better. D-Mannose helps me relieve constipation.
arrived where??? I'm home and it isn't here!
was past due twice!! who does that
I bought Glucomannan Powder 500G (2 Bottles) after I read the reviews about it. I also bought NOW Glucomannan before. Comparing these two products, I am going to stick to NOW products after I finish the Nutricost. Pros about the Nutricost - shipping fast; Cost about 30% lower than NOW. Cons - If you blend it with water (8Oz for 2 Gram), it is much less sticky than the NOW powder. I had to increase the weight of Nutricost power to 3-4 gram for 8Oz water, and the mixture is still not sticky at all. It might be a good product for using with your milk shake, or protein shake, but not for losing weight drink, in my opinion. For the above reason, I gave it 3 stars. I still have a lot to consume, and may alter the rating based on my later experiences.
