Beautiful focal point in the back yard. Will plant hostas around the base later this Spring. My cardinals were immediately drawn to it the minute I filled it with water. Highly recommend.
Very pleasantly surprised at the quality and detail for the price. I'm going to order a second one for my garden.
I wanted something decorative and different. This is so perfect. It's built well and holds the water wonderfully. So happy I bought it. [...]
Beautiful, arrived quickly, was packaged very well and securely. EASY to assemble, every part screws together and fits tightly. I used clear SPAR varnish on the entire piece to protect the finish from discoloration, cracking, peeling, fading, and/or chipping - I do this will all of my outdoor decor pieces, especially ones that are painted. I also filled the hollow stem with small rocks followed by sand to fill in and add a bit of extra weight - this piece is weighty on it's own, I just wanted added stability. The birds enjoyed it after the second day! Looks great on the patio.
I have another just like this. After 10 years, the water bowl corroded and started to peel. The base is still pretty and I will use it for holding a potted plant. The birds, squirrels, and chipmonks will enjoy this new one. It is simple and well designed.
Product received in Antique Bronze is not as pictured. The sunflower bowl is an accurate depiction, however, the stand and base do not have golden frogs (one large and one small). What I received appears to be the stand and base depicted in the Antique Pewter photo. There are two frogs of similar size climbing down the stand and two frogs of similar size on the base. They are the same Antique Bronze in color and do not stand out from their background. While still a fun portrayal, it renders the birdbath far less artistically attractive with a consequent perception of lesser quality. I was told by Customer Service that the product has been ""updated,"" is no longer available as pictured, and they need to change their picture. I was given a 10% discount to keep the birdbath.
Holes for the base and post were not lined up correctly. Something that should have been a 15 min. job took much longer. My husband had to drill the base holes a little at a time until he was able to put the two pieces together. If not for the misalignment it would have gotten five stars. Haven't had it long enough to know if the birds like it
It's a nice, heavy birdbath. Easy to put together. I love the sunflower shape. Two things, though: 1. It is not deep enough. I'm constantly adding more water. It's hit here, so between the birds and the heat, water disappears quickly. 2. The picture shows the frogs painted gold. They are not, and as a result are not noticeable. I realized this before purchasing and decided to paint them gold myself.
The bird bath is solid and I did not have problems with stripping threads as some reviews have stated. I used a hand driver and a socket to tighten the bolts and not a ratchet wrench. The holes used to attach the stem to the water dish were a little off but I was able to get the pieces together by adjusting the stem holes and hand tightening the bolts until they were started in the threads. The only real problem I had was that the bolt used to hold the two pieces of the stem together was too short. It did not hold the stem pieces together. I went to the hardware store bought a longer bolt, a flat and lock washer and tightened the stem pieces up. There are virtually no instructions but it was not difficult to figure where the pieces went. The three large long bolts and matching washers and lock washers hold the bottom to the lower half of the stem. The smaller three bolts washers and lock washers hold the top half of the stem to the water bowl. The top stem is placed in the bottom stem and the short large bolt is used to tighten these two pieces together. This bolt was too short to hold these pieces together snugly so I had to purchase a longer one. The bolt I purchased had a larger hex head than the original bolt so the decorative cap they supplied that covers the bolt head did not fit. I also added a flat washer and a lock washer here because without doing this the pieces would eventually work loose. The screw and matching washer and lock washer are used to hold the bird to the water bowl.
They sent me bolts that didnt fir the holes and they sent me the bronze basin and the pewter bottom..bought one years ago and it was terrific....looks like their quality control is lacking and i wondered if it is packaged overseas now :(
