Oklahoma Joe's Bandera Vertical Offset Smoker

This is a quality product and I noticed that they fixed a few flaws from the one we purchased many years ago. You can smoke or grill food on this baby. With three racks in the smoker side, you can fit lots of food on it. It is heavy with solid construction. Some assembly is required but it isn't difficult. The Walmart Pickup experience was easy.

Easy to assemble, heavy gauge steel, lots of room in the smoke chamber. large fire box/ grill area. Best smoker I have ever owned. Heavy duty probably last smoker I will have to buy!

First load in smoker was chicken wings. They tasted great, had crisp skin. Just plain good. The fire controls are exceptional. Was able to smoke at 250 for an hour and then raise the temp to 450 to crisp the skin. Second batch was pork loin and baby back ribs. Both were great. Having the huge water pan really helped keep the meat moist. I'm very happy with the smoker.

The amount of room to smoke different items is tremendous and the grilling area is a much added bonus. Have owned it for 2 weeks and grilled: Steaks, Burgers & Wings, while smoking a Turkey, Pork Butt, Sausage, Wings and Salmon. Has kept good heat 225+ in Maine in 20 degree weather. Perfect for weekend smoking or when you want to get out of the house on a winter day and tailgate away from the wife. You will want to purchase a gasket for the door.

I recently bought the Oklahoma Joe's vertical offset smoker the Bandera. I'm Oklahoma Joe's fan I have the horizontal 50 gallon drum offset smoker and I wanted to Bandera so I could do more hanging items. So I bought it and when it got here it sat in the garage for about a week as I did some online research on building through Oklahoma Joe's itself. The day came to build it and when I got to the door it was messed up it had been broken during shipping. To my very pleasant surprise and amazement when I got on the horn with Oklahoma Joe's not only did they take care of me customer service wise but because it was in my 30 day grace period of receiving the unit they immediately sent me a brand new box and brand new door to replace the broken items. Thoroughly impressed that I didn't have to fight to get something for a relatively expensive smoker though I have no doubt it will do its job as I mentioned above I already have an Oklahoma Joe product which I truly enjoy and it works great. I bought this for my husband and going from grilling to smoking has been a learning curve, but the finished product has been fantastic!! Had to add some gasket to the cabinet door and once we had our lump charcoal/log ratio figure out it has been awesome!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got one for Father's Day about 3 years ago. My wife will tell you it's the best thing she's ever bought me because she reaps the reward of awesome BBQ. Holds temp well and is easy to control. Large firebox lets you use splits and get clean smoke through the smoke chamber.

Negative concerning Smoker - paint on firebox burned off on first use of smoker. There is not an opening for fat to drip out of smoker, consider placing tin foil in bottom to catch the fat drippings. Pros: Holds heat well, easy to use. Well made. Assembly required, helpful to have two people. Negative about Walmart ordering and handling - Order first smoker and about 5 days after expected delivery date I called and they said delayed due to weather. Waited several days and still no smoker. I called back and they had to cancel that order and reorder for me. When we picked up smoker, the box was very damaged, contents were ok - the packaging of the smoker saved it.
