An exceptional product

Woodmanpapa April 7, 2014

Wasn't pleased with the packaging condition. I was surprised it wasn't damaged.I photographed it before I left the store for proof of condition. It took about 30 minutes to assemble everything was there to my surprise considering the packaging condition. This is an awesome grill. Love it! It's a heavy duty grill and appears it will serve well. Hope it lives up to the BARB-E-CHEF from Grills Gallore I used for 14 years and multiple replacement grates.

Great alternative to a great grill

Tigerfan814 April 23, 2014

Had been looking at the Oklahoma Joe Longhorn grill for 2 years now. I just couldn't afford the nearly 500 dollar price tag. So when I saw the Highland version a couple of weeks ago for nearly half the price, I was hesitant to get excited. But after researching it, I liked what I saw. The ONLY difference between this grill and the Longhorn addition is a slight size difference. But with that said, the Highland is the biggest grill I've ever used. For an idea, I was able to get 6 full slabs of ribs on the main cooling surface. Overall, this is a great grill.

Excellent product for an amazing price

Guitardoc730 February 24, 2017

I was really shocked when I got this smoker built. Almost 3x heavier construction then my old char broil 1280 which mind you leaked like no tomorrow. I'm extremely happy with my purchase plus I got it for 100.00+ LESS then other stores are selling it for. 5 ☆☆☆☆☆.

For the price, one great smoker

rockn1971 April 7, 2014

One of the best smokers ive had in a few years, Good value for the money, was really impressed with the durability and design, heavy gauge metal, holds heat for a long time, very simple to assemble, with a few tools only took 35 or 40 minutes, all in all a great value

Excellent Smoker

TXVA May 29, 2014

Easy assembly with all the components fitting as they're supposed to. Good quality materials and heavy gauge metal. You can't tell the difference between the Highland and the twice as expensive Longhorn smoker. Heat was consistent and long lasting with minimal loss of smoke. The brisket, pork and turkey all came out great with the first cook!!

Amazing smoker

paintfean April 19, 2014

I have smoked BBQ professionally for restaurants in Oklahoma and this smoker produces the same quality meat. Each smoker is different in how it smokes and this one was very easy to adjust to. I HIGHLY recommend this smoker to the beginner and the expert.

Nice smoker for beginners

Sid32 September 3, 2014

The durability of this smoker is very nice. Very thick steel walls compared to some other units I looked at in big box stores. This is a very nice unit to start with, but it is temperamental when it comes to holding a constant temperature. Look this unit up on YouTube for some customization ideas such as: - Fireplace insulation around the smoker door to prevent air escape. - 3" aluminum flex duct to lower the flue exhaust pipe location - Purchase a diffuser place to better distribute heat from the firebox. - Install bolts with washers to raise the level of the firebox grate. (otherwise the ash fills it up over a long smoke). I am very happy with the purchase of this unit and all of my downwind neighbors are envious of the delicious smells wafting downwind.

Awesome back yard smoker!!

schanz0 June 10, 2014

Nicely built with heavy gauge steel and wide doors. Can pack 12 beer can chickens in there with no problem and still have room for ribs. I only offset smoke in this unit, and with the added help of high temp silicone during assembly this baby is air tight and holds temps real well. I built a burner box basket to aid in fire box air flow and to contain the charcoal better. I also made heat baffles for the cooking area which gives me excellent control of the cooking temps across the whole cooking surface. Most of these modifications can be found on YouTube and made with stuff you probably have around the garage and house. I would have no problem telling you to pick the Ok Joe Longhorn smoker as it's done me right. Good luck, enjoy, and KEEP ON BBQ'in

Nice for the price

7777tdgceshjtdgt January 31, 2014

Overall a nice smoker good size, you will need a convection plate to even out the temp ($80) or make your own. The fire box steel around the door and where it bolts to the smoker warped a little bit when first using it , probably could have used a couple more tack welds. But overall nice grill for the price.

Almost a great smoker....

HappyHubbie June 15, 2016

The gauge of the steel and the size makes this a great base if you put effort and about $100 more into it to make it great. My grill went together almost fine. After assembly The smoker chamber door was off center and was fabricated so I had to grind it down to get it to close properly. For a tight seal, I purchased smoker gaskets and NSF high temp silicone sealant used during assembly and added lid latches found online. Look at charcoal baskets and smoker baffles while you are online, you will want them for big smoking projects. The wheels provided looked cool and are heavy, however, they are useless. They don't roll well and the smoker isn't stable on them. Mine are now garden decorations. The added effort will save you tons of charcoal and wood since there is a DRAMATIC reduction in smoke and heat loss. BEST AND MOST MOIST CHICKEN EVER MADE! I usesd frozen bone-in chicken breasts as my test meat (soup chicken) and wow, WOW. Juicy smoky chicken that my picky family loved, they bought more meat for grilling after being reluctant to try it.
