Whats there to say ? The best smoker for the money, nothing compares to the quality & usability of these smokers..i have owned at least a dozen oklahoma joes offset smokers, also approximately half dozen oklahoma joes bronco & bronco pros...i used them everyday at my bbq shop and when i retired i used them at home...i would smoke 100's of lbs of meat every weekend.. also the customer service is the best in the world...i will continue to purchase them as long i can cook !
This is a great smoker and got its first cook at a competition. We took 3rd in Ribs and 4th in Brisket. It held the temperature great even when the overnight temp dropped to the lower 30's! Even temp across the grill with almost enough space for 2 packer briskets (15lb each) and 4 racks spare ribs cut to St. Louis style.
Just what I expected and got. It is smaller which works well for the amount of food I cook at one time and fits in to my smaller footprint. Reverse flow is what I had decided on after a lot of research.
Smoker is tight very little heat and smoke loss been using smokers 43 years .very good smoker with reverse flow
I absolutely love it. It's taking a little time to get used to amount of wood, and temperature. But overall, it is fantastic!
Very nice but I have about 12 big bolts leftover that apparently do not go to the assembly of this grill and missing 4 1/4-20 flange bolts but no big deal I’ll get some. The grill/smoker looks awesome and built to last. Not made of cheap steel. I can’t wait to use it. I highly recommend!
The reverse offset design evens the temperature range in the smoking area a surprising amount better than a standard flow smoker. It’s great that it can be converted to a normal flow design also. Love the metal shelves and the flat section of the fire box to preheat the wood so it is a clean smoke faster once it’s burning. I miss the nostalgic handles instead of the plastic ones that spin freely but that’s being picky.
So as per all the othe reviews, the paint comes right off the smoke box on the first smoke. It was expected so I was not surprised. I did, when I put it together seal the box to the main body with high temp silicone. I was worried that it wouldn't be sealed enough. I also sealed the box (since it comes into 2 peices) with the same silicone. The sealant worked beautifully. I like that when yes you get the reverse smoke that they also give you the option to change it back and forth to reverse and regular. I do think that you should purchase another temp probe for the other side. As to be sure your smoker is evenly heated. Mine is about a 10 to 15 degree difference. I also put high heat gaskets on the smoker and smoker box lids. They worked wonderfully only letting out minimal smoke. Although the smoker box gaskets melted off. I will have to research more on which ones I can that would be better suited. With the modifications, I am very happy with the unit. Can't wait to have the time to use it more often.
I just finished putting it together. It was simple and straightforward. Nothing damaged or missing. Instructions were good. I did put a gasket between the halves of the firebox because without it there was not a perfect fit all the way around. What stands out to me the most so far is the height. The cooking surface is only 30” off the ground. The chargriller it is replacing is 35”. Check all the measurements to make sure it suits you. I have googled this everyday I can think of but have found no mention or justification for the low height.
I will start this review by saying I am a very experienced charcoal and wood smoker user. I have used a similar style, much cheaper version of this for the last 7 years. This other version has been good to me, but I have had to get a new one every 2-3 years. I thought this time I would invest in one of better quality, to last longer. I am very disappointed in this product model 24203003. I've been looking at this brand for the last year, at first there was one model that had grates to fit over the smoke box, to sear, but no shelve in the main cooking area, or one with a shelve, but no grates for the smoke box area. I finally found this model that had both, and was excited to get a better quality grill. I spent the extra money thinking I would get a better quality grill, but I was very disappointed from the start, and really gave it more time to see if I just needed to adjust to a new cooking style with a different product. I was very optimistic and stuck it out for a while, but fact is, this grill missed the mark on soo many levels. I cant add pics to this, so I will be as descriptive as I can. First thing, the grill is unlevel, it leans towards the smoker box, but the grease trap is on the opposite side, so all the drippings accumulate towards the smoker box fire, which is a dangerous fire hazard. The shelf is almost perfect for fitting the removable charcoal box, but because they have it on the side with the wheels, the wheels block the path it could be stored in. Most grills that have the upper shelf, the shelf is connected with the lid, and moves out of the way when you open it. This grill has a fixed shelf, that is adjustable, but at max height, is less than 4 inches high, and doesn't move out of the way, anything you would put on the primary cooking surface has to be less than 4 inches thick, and if you have to flip anything, it's impossible unless you take it out of the grill area, and try to flip it in the air, and than maneuver it back in, over other items that might be there in the way. Now let's talk about the smoker box... The area is good, the fact you can use the wood basket that is removable is good, However, when you slide out the ash tray, tons of stuff falls down in its place, so when you dump it, and slide it back in, all the debris falls down and stops you from being able to slide it back in. This is a huge inconvenience when you are doing a long cook, and need to dump out ash, to make new airspace room for new wood. this makes you have to remove lower HOT grates, and scrape out the corners which are not easy to get to when in the middle of a cook. And when I was looking at the total cooking surface inches, it was comparable to what I had, but it is soo much smaller, main cooking and upper shelf is the total square inches here. very disappointed, wish I never spent all the extra money for this. Wish I could return it.
