This was a gift for my husbands birthday, he loves it!! Our neighbors complimented it tonight stating it is the centerpiece for anyone that has visited, everyone is admiring it. Outstanding bet was it was at least a grand if not two grand. My husband loves how simple it is to use and that it maintains temperature beautifully! Would recommend for sure. He wanted a smoker with an offset firebox and this purchase has checked all the boxes. Worth the money.
Just got the Longhorn offset smoker just before Christmas. I LOVE THIS SMOKER !! I'm a really great grilling over direct heat and used grills, this smoker was easy to assemble. However, do what the instructions say and get some help!!! I'm was able to get it together by myself, but I'm in fairly good shape. I smoked 4 full racks of ribs on it very easily. The dampers are very easy to work. I truly recommend this product for a beginner or anyone who loves smoking meats.
Construction is very durable.
Great smoker and great size for the price (even in CAD $)!! Well built, very heavy, Fast and good price shipping! The fire box is huge, a 16 inch log fits easely in it!. Even if you have some experience using offset smoker, this big one will need a little bit of practice. The size of the cooking chamber and fire box needs a learnig curve to manage the temp and the amount of combustible. Doesn't need too much mods, only some gasket and son hi-temp sealicone too seal everything in place. The paint is a bit of a issue. You have to keep the fire away from the sides of the smoker or else the paint will peel off. I recommend using a fire basket in the fire box and larger charcoal grills in the smoker chamber if you want to use it like a bbq. Some touch up on the paint will have to be made down the road. But the paint is not a big problem, it's easy to fix! Dont hesitate, pull the trigger on it and be sure to have a friend with you when it's delevired ... you will need some help to move this beast! I recommend this product (even if I would like to be the only guy around having one!!!)
I put a a water bath up near the the fire box and did use a charcoal basket. I didn't do any other mods. The smoker held the temperature constantly between 225 an 250 the whole 6 hour cook. I am super happy with the performance. I am going to seal the fire box with high heat silicone but others than that, satisfied customer.
I purchased my Oklahoma Joe's Smoker last year for myself for Father's day, and I am very pleased with it. I've used it for both grilling and smoking, and it consistently produced excellent food each time.
Setup is almost perfect! I am very happy with my purchase. One ding is that my grill Label was not affixed to the hood of the grill and it was missing, I would love it if you all would send me a replacement. I also did some modifications by adding some grill tape in some places to eliminate smoke escapes..
Very happy with this smoker! After a couple weeks of owning it and learning it I took it to a KCBS competition and placed in the top 10 only cooking on this smoker! Highly recommend also purchasing the 2nd temperature gauge separately. The "Oklahoma Joe" name plate on the smoker was broken upon arrival, and the "Oklahoma Joe" patch on the cover I bought separately was stitched on poorly and crooked. Seems to be some haphazard quality control, but otherwise I'm happy with the functionality of the products I purchased
The welding on the legs don't line up with the screws so I have one wheel straight and the other 1/4 off to where it looks like it's ready to make a turn! After I season it I noticed the smoker box started to slope down and is about a 1/4 to a 1/2 in off from being straight and the paint immediately started to peel off as soon as the temperature got to 400 degrees
I bought this a month ago and the first time we used it the paint started falling off the bottom. Very disappointed in this product
