What I loved about it is it sucked and nicely in the old wood also, I put a second coat on and it hardly took any product at all. I love it.
Lid/screw top was broken.
I used this product in a metal container for years. I believe it was oil (linseed?) based. I purchased it last year and the container is now a plastic container. They have re-formulated this product. The previous version of this product was FAR superior. I used it to freshen and protect our stained front porch. I would apply it 2x year and it would revitalize the floor to almost new, even after brutal Chicago winters. This new product does not! Look for a different product now?
Not sure about this yet. The idea of a water based water sealer seems counterintuitive. I've used it for a few years, and it seems OK, but I prefer the original oil based sealer. Can I switch back after having used the water based sealer if I wait until I need to apply it again?
Color on the can that we chose is called Woodland Cedar My deck is jack-o'-lantern orange Absolutely among the most hideous colors I've ever seen and an absolutely horrible product I've painted many things before and the color dries to a different color but in this case it did not my deck is orange if there was a way for me to post a picture
This clear wood protector does not work at all. I wasted my money buying it on the recommendation of a lowes employee. I went in to buy another brand & they talked me into the Olympic clear. 2 coats later & still not a bit of protection. On my other deck, bought a gallon of the other brand & it worked wonderfully. the other deck is in much worse shape being it is 17 years older & never been taken care of properly compared to the brand new deck I used the Olympic on. You could not give me the Olympic again.
We've used this deck treatment every year for many years & have been very pleased. However, last August when we bought the sealant we noticed it was in a different container (plastic). After using it, the water didn't bead up on the deck as before. After going through the winter, our deck is nearly ruined now because the sealant didn't keep the water from soaking into it. The old oil-based product was far superior. We're hoping we won't have to replace our entire deck now & are going to try another brand of product that is oil-based in an attempt to salvage it. We won't be using this product again. We tried using what was left over a few days ago to touch up areas, but found it had separated so was not usable.
