Decent coop. Terrible instructions.

Matthew May 10, 2022

This is my 1st chicken coop, so I don't have much to compare to. I can say without a doubt that the instructions are useless. I had to look at the images of the finished product to be able to put it together. The material isn't the best quality, but I think it's pretty good for the price. The dimensions are correct, but it definitely looks smaller in person. It was missing a couple of pieces when it arrived, but it wasn't worth mentioning because I had some material to replace it. Probably just should have gone with the cheaper version from tractor supply. I don't think this is really worth the price, but also not worth returning because of the time spent putting it together with terrible instructions.

DO NOT BUY!

Alexis July 28, 2023

DO NOT BUY! For one the item is terrible quality. Two, it's not packed with an protection so more then 50% of the pieces are cracked. Also the item is incomplete, pieces are missing. Seller is awful and keeps requesting more and more information and more pictures before offering a resolution. This is holding me up from getting my chickens in coop and the seller could care less! Had I realized jr was a third party seller I would have never ordered it. The third party sellers are the worst and there's no quality control form Walmart?

Buyer beware, cheap junk!

DAN April 1, 2023

Don't buy this one or any product from this company. it's the cheapest junk that can possibly be made that will hold together with screws. we had a wind storm come through and knocked this thing down and it crumbled like a potato chip. Now I have to rally and find something else because our chickens need to get and the coop within about a week! furthermore, before the wind storm came through the day I built this thing, I opened up one of the nesting boxes and the the wood literally cracked at the top.

Trash

Robert August 22, 2023

Trash. Wound up building one for half the price and three times the size. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! It's cheap cedar wood. It warps after a week and breaks extremely easily. All the hardware and latches might as well be aluminum foil as those too are the cheapest the company can find. It's too small for the amount of birds it says it can hold…. Unless you're just gunna cram them in there and let them be miserable. For 600 dollars just go to the lumber yard and your local feed store and build one. Mine is now 18'x7'x 7' tall and didn't spend more than 500 bucks. If you have predatory wildlife around they WILL get into it. Easily.

Cheaply made and way overpriced for what you get.

Theresa June 23, 2024

Where to begin. If I could give it less than one star I would. First, the frame was bent and cracked from poorly placed screws. One corner of one of the run panels was broken clean through from a poorly placed screw. The directions are worthless. The wood is so cheap and fragile as to remind me of balsa wood. The roof is the only part of this thing that is well made. The panels did not go together squarely due to this strange shim on the back bottom where the run goes. I will suggest that you chisel that stupid thing off before assembly. FYI the advertised 59 inches is not the width of the main body of the coop and run. It includes the dimensions of the nest boxes meaning that it is actually barely two feet on the inside of the coop and run. I would not keep more than 3 bantams in this thing, and only after really working at reinforcing it with the addition of braceplates and doing additional work to the structure. Also, if there is even a rare possibility of a racoon, opposum, groundhog, fox, dog, cat or basically any animal that you don't want to get into this coop, find a way to make it safer. The floors of the nest boxes basically punch upward. It would take most raccoons 2 minutes to enter that way. The run is connected to the coop with a flimsy piece of wood that a fox leaning up against it, or a raccoon, it would tip over, break off and crash to the ground. I purchased several additional screws as well as mending plate hardware brackets to affix the run to the coop and the run panels together. I added hardware cloth panel beneath the nest boxes. The wood will obviously rot away in a quick minute, so to mitigate for the cheapness of it, I purchased flat paving stones for the entire perimeter of the coop and run so that it is not sitting on the ground. I also added a two foot skirt of heavy duty wire to secure it from digging. I am using it as a temp coop to isolate chickens who are sick or getting picked on too much in the main flock. Bottom line: if you are not handy and need a kit that will assemble with no fuss and do no need to do further work to make it habitable, it will probably be best to select a different coop.

Misleading measurements

Lily April 9, 2023

This coop is MUCH smaller than expected! Measurements are from the outside of the nesting boxes. This would be a good coop if you only raised chicks. I would return it but, unfortunately, we got rid of the boxes it came in.

Junk that will only last a year if that.

Penny May 5, 2023

Smaller than I thought. Cheap made.
