Grabbed these chips for a get-together. Several people asked me what kind they were and said they were the tastiest chips ever! They really are light, crunchy, not greasy and not too salty. The bags I've gotten have almost no broken chips either. Just big, whole chips great for dipping.
This brand is my favorite tortilla chip! Light and cruncy, you can almost guarantee they will be fresh. My only wish is, for them to be a tiny bit less salted, but this is only bc I watch salt intake; otherwise, these are dang near perfect. Yes, I know there is a light salt option, but WallyWorld never seems to keep them in stock, and when I do see them on the shelf they are extremely limited in numbers like it only delivers in a box of 3 lol, still I blame WM for poor ordering practices.
We generally don't eat tortilla chips because they are too salty, spicey or too thick, but On The Border Cafe Style Tortilla Chips, Gluten-Free are really good. They are light and very tasty. So they are now going to be a staple in my pantry. They are good with everything including soups.
MY FAVORITE CHIPS OF ALL TIME!! SO delicious when made correctly (see below) %26 I'm addicted to them. ONE COMPLAINT: On average, I would say that about 1 in every 5 bags does not taste the same.. I understand not wanting to throw out an edible chip, but these outliers REALLY mess with the quality OTB is known for (maybe sell these bad batches in some other way). They are not 'bad', but they're about a tied with Santanitas at that point. You can tell something's off, because they don't look like the standard tortilla chip. They have a different texture AND taste than 'normal' OTB Cafe style chips. Like I said, I hope this message gets to who it needs to. Quality control really needs to fix the percentage of bad bags vs. good bags. For the price, it's just not right to not have the same quality from nearly every bag . *I consider myself an expert because I have bought them for years %26 lately eat them nearly every day, LOL.
The chips were not all broken up in this bag I purchased. The chips were super crunchy and perfectly salted. I like how the chips were not too thin so when I dipped/scoop my homemade guac, the chips didn't break in the bowl. I wanted the "freshly made" taste, so I laid a few handfuls of chips on a cookie sheet and warmed in the oven on 300 degrees for 6 minutes and it was perfect. I puchased again to use with my homemade queso with ground beef.
Because we do not live close to an On The Border Restaurant and it has been one of my favorite restaurants for 40 years, I really do appreciate being able to buy the products at the store when I am craving my favorite food. Thank you so much for making On The Border foods available to purchase in the grocery!
These tortilla chips were exactly what I look for. They had the perfect thickness—sturdy enough to hold up to salsa, guacamole, and loaded nachos without breaking, but not so thick that they became hard or overwhelming to eat. The flavor was excellent, with just the right amount of salt to complement the chips without overpowering them. Overall, they were crisp, flavorful, and versatile enough for snacking or entertaining. I would definitely buy them again.
These are one of my favorite chips, but sometimes it is hit or miss with a good bag. Very inconsistent brand unless you're picky in-store shopping like me. Normally and most of the time these are super fluffy/flakey chips just like going out to eat, but sometimes (not as often) they are flat and over-cooked. I don't know it is is the end of a batch run or what, but it happens. If you buy them get them in-store so you can view inside the transparent packaging to see if the bag is full of good chips. You can tell just by looking. If you order them online for a delivery or pick-up Wal-Mart will grab whatever and most likely the bag closet to to the eat by date meaning they will not be fresh. This is why I don't buy bread for online orders anymore. They literally do not care about their customers. Un-qualified or just lazy I don't know, but if I worked there I would buy/shop based on freshness not lets make sure we sell that stuff today since the use by date is today lol.
For the last Month..All the bags are 1/4 full. Barely 1 gal zip lock full from 11.5 bag. Understand the economy is not the greatest.. But come on..The Bags should at least be 1/2 full for a regular price. On the border needs to do better quality control!!
My favorite tortilla chip. This bag was 98% crumbs. I was so disappointed. Whoever picked that bag didn't look at the chips because right in the front the bag you could see all crumbs and broken chips. I am afraid to have these chips ordered for delivery again.
