I know this is going to strike you as something weird that a lightning cable can be a lifesaver but it's true!! I have been unable to back up my iPhone or the photos since I got my new iPhone XR about 3 years ago! Now, I'm not a millennial that just 'have' to have their photos of friends and selfies. Even worse! I'm a grandmother of two 7 year olds and a 4 year old who are the light of my life. Right now I have 21,616 unbacked up photos on my phone. I have tried with different connection cables, I have spoken to Apple iPhone people several times, we have tried to do it with the software, I have purchased the Apple certified phone cord and nothing has worked. They told me if I had an iMac instead of a PC it would back up with no problem so I bought one!! That's right, $800 for a used iMac so I could back up my photos!!! It did not work, either as a direct input or by downloading it using their software.
Below you will see a photo of 10 of the cables I have ... that doesn't include the one that has a big bump at the place you connect it because somehow the wires got lose or something. I also have one in each of my cars (3). I don't know where the orange and green one are that go with the hot pink one, but I tried all of those also. I also tried three different of those plug in your lightening port little thumb drives that back up your iPhone. It would do about 1,000 photos and then stop and quit and each time I tried, it backed up the same 1,000 photos. Not the other 20,000 I needed.
I received this onn USB C 10' cord to test as a Spark Reviewer. I got this one because it is the newer one (USB C) that plugs into the back of an iMac and it is supposed to be faster in charging. Oh, another problem I have is when my iMac goes into sleep mode, it stops charging the phone with the other cables I've used.
THIS CABLE WORKED!!!!!! I'm telling you it was an impossible feat in my eyes because I had tried so many things I was frustrated and was going to get a new phone so I would not lose my photos. The cord wasn't all that expensive, I've paid more for other "high end" one's I've received ... but as you will see in my photo below it is more than twice as thick. It reminds me of the old Cat3 or Cat 5 ethernet cables that we used 20 years ago.
The cable is sturdy and not very bendable. It is not mesh or covered in a thin wire or have an extra special snake feeling USB connector. It is just a really heavy duty cable that for some reason likes the iMac, the iPhone, and this Gramma and enabled me to back up all of my photos!!! (which I then transferred to the PC and the external 8 Terabyte drive I have ... can't be too careful).
So yes, the cord is lightning fast in charging and backing up. It is not going to give you errors as I have gotten. You are going to love this cord, other than you can't wind it around your few fingers several times to then rubber band and throw in the drawer. This puppy is a beast. I hope you end up trying it and you too can have the miracle of 21,616 SAVED photos!!
