Was looking for a way to have the children have a phone in the house that I could communicate with them without them having a cell phone. This is perfect.
So far this has been great. Haven't seen a bill for the taxes and fees, but works great with our fiber internet and gives me peace of mind incase of an emergency as I live in an area where my current cell service can drop sometimes. Also, you can start out with a basic model and add things later, even home security.
Great price for home phone, and easily used by my aging father, who is 89 and has some dementia. Too difficult for him to use cell phone anymore. This is a great fit for him.
This review concerns the OOMA Phone Genie (not the Telo), which I purchased from Walmart. I took advantage of a good “reduced price” on WalMart.com for the Genie, after comparing all the features with the Telo, thinking that they were both the same. Nothing evident that there was a difference, so I took the plunge. Well, after receiving and activating my Genie, I discovered that this (Genie) is set up to immediately subscribe to the OOMA Premier Service, without the option to switch to the Basic (free) Service! That was a SURPRISE, since there was no disclosure about this, while I was reading up on the Genie. The next day after activation, my CC was charged $17 , and is NON REFUNDABLE if I were to cancel. For this, I'm deducting 1 star from my rating. I seriously considered canceling my service, packing it all up and returning it to Walmart, but after test driving the software and phone, I realized that this system is VERY FEATURE PACKED, and actually has everything I want. There are several ways to do “call blocking” with this system, but that feature DOES require subscribing to the Premier Service, so that's what I'd be having to use anyway. On my existing phone service, I'm constantly bombarded with scam, and robo calls, so using my new OOMA Genie, I'll be able to totally eliminate that annoyance. Will require me to “port” my phone number, but that's alright. I REALLY LIKE my new OOMA Phone Genie! Set-up was quite easy. Just be aware that this unit IS LOCKED INTO THE OOMA Premier Service, and you WILL NOT be able to switch back to the Basic (free) Service, as you would, if you had purchased the OOMA Telo. The handset is very user friendly, with many menu options. I like it a lot. Everything seems to be working just fine so far. :-)
Price was okay, product seems cheaply made, had issues connecting to the internet, customer service non existent on weekends, finally got it to connect up, 40 dollar charge to port your number to the company
so the item was great nice and sleek and perfect. The problem I did have was that it was registered in somwone elses name the Ooma company told mw to return it because there was nothing they could do. So i ordered it through T mobile internet which i already had and got a deal on it.
The hand set wasn't very good and was hard to hear plus what they originally said I was gonna be paying for a monthly charge. They said it had to be more $20 more because it was a different phone than the cheap one so and I couldn't I said well more expensive how come it does terrible
ooma customer service wasn't very helpful, nor was they professional . i got hung up on serveral times . i couldn't get Ooma phone service to help me. i had to call my bank to get my refund from Ooma . i ve returned the phone to the seller because of ooma bad customer services
When it got here I was excited now that I can't get it to work is another story so I don't think this is a easy set up
This is a old model of Ooma phone which the monthly fee is much higher than if you were to buy the newer model called Telo Air.
