Great tandem boat

Don M. August 9, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very stable. Easy to assemble and pack away once you've done it a few times. Boat tracks well and is quite fast on the water. Impresses!

Great boat

brett s. August 6, 2024

I love it. It is easy to store and easy to clean off. My son who is 9 has an easy time paddling. I took it out solo and had an easy time. It gets lot of compliments by others.

A joy!

Anonymous May 31, 2019

I purchased the Haven (Tandem) and took it out on the water last weekend. The assembly confounded at first until I followed the YouTube assembly video section by section. The second time I put it together took about 10 minutes and was relatively easy (just needed good muscle). The boat is sturdy in the water, it held two adults easily, and we found it easy to steer and navigate. I like that it can convert to a single too. Fits in the trunk of my Camry easily. Only thing I'd like to add to my Oru is a small hand cart to wheel it from the car to the dock. While it folds up nicely, at age 57 and small framed, it's still quite heavy for me to carry on a shoulder by myself. Otherwise, I have no complaints! Love it and love that I can take it all over the place to rivers and lakes.

Elegant way to minimize storage space and maximize on-the-water fun.

Anonymous November 24, 2019

My wife and I love to be on the water together and the Oru Haven has made it easy. I am a big guy @ 6’8” and 250 lbs. The listed height max for the Haven is 6’6”. I can tell you that I have no problem entering/exiting/paddling. The Haven tracks well in flat conditions and does surprising well when the wind is up. I sit in the aft seat and my 5’8” and 125lbs. wife sits forward. My size 16 feet rest just aft of the forward seat but are forward of the spreader bar at mid-ship..I don’t need to bend my knees at all. The kayak is waterproof in flat water. Because the Haven has such a large open cockpit, we get water into the boat from paddle drip, rain and waves coming on the beam. We are working on a simple ‘rain fly’ idea (we are OCD about a wet boat). But, even the water that comes in from drips and rain isn’t an issue. The water stays under the orange floor boards so it doesn’t create any wet-butt issues while we are paddling. Folding and unfolding the hull is easy. The Oru video is helpful. But, they edited out the most critical element of how the boat goes together in the final fold. Fortunately, it only took us a few extra minutes to figure it out in our living room and now it is easy. Storage inside the hull is adequate. I appreciate how easy it is to carry a 40 lbs. tandem kayak over my shoulder in box mode In summary: we don’t think there is a more elegant way to minimize space needs and maximize on-the-water fun. Small hole on bottom of boat

Edward W. June 30, 2025

Great boat but there is a small hole that I think was there when I got it but didn't notice it until I turned it upside down to wash it. Also the neoprene rubber end cover on one end is really hard to get over the edge. I have been trying to contact you about it but so far I haven't been able to get through on the phone. I've emailed and left messages so hopefully this can be resolved.

- Price + Portability

VITALIY L. September 10, 2023

Hi! I am a recreational kayaker with a few decades of experience. Cons: - The price. But I wanted it so badly, so I closed my eyes and pressed the button. - The material is very gentle, but I was expecting it. On the very 1st use I scratched one side on asphalt. Will buy a carpet to assemble on it - The bottom loses the shape and becomes flat when I sit in it. I am going to put a paddle cushioned by a polyethylene vermicelli between the orange deck and the bottom to push the bottom down and maintain the shape - The speed is noticeably lower than on a 12ft SUP with a kayak seat on top - It IS a conversation starter, and I am an introvert :) - The paddle in the kit is way too short. Considering the width of the deck, the average solo user (tall and fat like I am), the paddle needs to be extendable to 98" Pros: + Fits exactly the trunk of my Hyundai Sonata Sedan + The middle part is very sturdy, much better than I was expecting. Very well done guys! + I love the mounts on the sides + It is a roomster. I am 320lbs, and I was looking for a kayak with ~450lbs limit. The Haven TT is awesome, I see no problem using it as a touring kayak + Good tracking and very stable. Like a limousine. + The seat is too low, but this is not a problem actually, considering how stable the kayak is. I bought a 5" inflatable seat which works great. + Cudos for the bungees suspending the foot rest! Overall: Love it! Hope it will last.

Missing part in the delivery.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Missing part in the delivery. The assemble video plays too fast, had to constantly pause and replay to catch the details.

Poor quality for a high price

Anonymous November 2, 2020

In short, would not recommend this kayak and if I had the choice again I would simply buy a normal kayak for much cheaper. Initially bought as it fit the brief for a multi purpose kayak which can be folded and stored easily. Handled its first two trips fine, but now lots of issues regarding longevity. By the third trip the orange structural floor boards developed large cracks from end to end. After googling this is a known issue. Now having issues with straps breaking and coming off as the holes where they are attached through get stretched and then pass over the plastic washers/screw heads. The design trade offs they had to make to get a light folding tandem kayak are obvious It's only been on the water 5 times, and even though it's rates for many many folds I don't think the other hardware will last past 20 before enough breaks making it unusable or I start sinking. If you only ever plan to use the kayak a handful of times then this is the kayak for you. Otherwise go buy something that will last longer and cost less.
