Really impressed with this bag system. Both bags are great individually and together. And I love how neatly you can tuck the straps away making it into a holdall. It's great when you need to put it in the overhead lockers on a plane. Reqllt great product. Highly reccommended
I bought this pack for myself and the Fairview 55 for my wife to travel India for a few weeks. Having just got back, these packs turned out to be perfect for our needs, we could fit in everything for our trip so we could fly with only carry on luggage from Scotland. We used the small packs for everyday walkabouts as they are very light and carry just enough for a short adventure. I went for an overnight trek into the Himalayas and the 40l main pack did the job well, very comfy to wear even when fully loaded. I did lots of research and glad I went for this combo pack, will be using them for a lot more trips!
well thought out bag. Many pockets across both bags and been very comfortable. Like how day bag attaches either onto bag of bag or attaches to sit on chest. Perfect size for me on round the world trip but wanting to stay fairly lightweight. Love how zips are generally fairly hidden so difficult to access for petty theft.
I've used this pack on a recent trip abroad and its utility in splitting into two separate packs for air travel has been excellent. It's also proved useful when combined back into one pack for rail travel and walking. Solid construction, comfortable and enough space for a week's trip. Highly recommended.
Such a well made rucksack with every single detail thought through. The finish is excellent and it's a great idea having a smaller bag that can still be attached if you want it to. Love the way the straps can be stored away and you can use it as a holdall.
I bought the Farpoint 70 for a hiking trip in the Polish Tatra Mountains in July and was very impressed. Although I didn't use the main pack whilst walking, (I used my Stratos 36, which I packed in the Farpoint main pack), it was ideal for packing all my walking kit needed for a week. The harness cover is brilliant for when I checked it in as hold luggage. It was great to be able to carry it on my back rather than drag a suitcase around and clipping the daypack onto the front was so convenient. The Daypack is ideal for, well, a day pack, and I also used it as my carry-on pack for my flights. It held my 16" MacBook Pro easily and securely as well as plenty of personal items for the flights. I bought an Osprey XS rain cover for the day pack and my Stratos 36 rain cover fitted the main pack too. I was surprised at how much kit I could pack - which included walking poles, walking boots and my Stratos 36. The compression straps on the inside really do work wonders. Likewise, the external straps are great for attaching the daypack but it was also handy to front mount it too. Being able to lock the main pack and daypack (using Osprey locks) is a bonus and reassuring to keep your items secure. I think I have found my new luggage for my travels and have no plans to use a suitcase anytime soon! Great buy, no regrets and can 100% recommend the Farpoint/Fairview range.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Brought this just last week ahead of my trip to SE Asia in 2 weeks time. So spacious, was able to fit so much in it! Ideal for this trip, and the build quality is top tier, and with the detachable day bag it's a no brainer
I've had my farpoint 70 since 2018 and it's done a lot of miles with me. In fact I've used the daypack so much that it's been completely sun bleached to a much lighter colour than the main bag. The size is great for long weekend trips and I've backpacked and camped for many weeks with it as well. I love this bag so much I bought one for my partner as a birthday gift because he was jealous of mine. The new version is a little different but we like all the changes that osprey have made. My sister has the women's Fairview version too and it's just as good. In my opinion it's one of the best value packs in the range, especially if you're a grad or a student and can get a discount. Would recommend to everyone, keep up the good work Osprey!
Bought to replace a different cheap rucksack for part 1 of our “Grey gap year”. POSITIVES: Not used in anger yet but loaded is comfortable, spacious and well designed. Compression straps assist in squeezing 6 months of clothing and kit in it! NEGATIVES: Unsure on the strap/clip design to hold the smaller rucksack to the front, don't know if it'll last for the whole year- we'll see!
Looks like a sturdy couple of backpacks. Not keen on the hard frame - felt uncomfortable in trying. Also, the smaller day pack doesn't really attach to the bigger pack, it just hangs from the straps, so not convinced of how well that would last out how comfortable it would be, as loaded up it would drag down from the main pack. Returned, at my own pretty expensive cost. Disappointed.
