I have been using Defender Series cases for a long time, so long that I buy something else that looks cool every few years, and always switch back to Old Faithful. They grip in the hand great, they have saved my iPhone many times from life's oops moments, and have never failed to do a superior job. So, I just bought another Defender case for my new iPhone 13 Pro.
I have owned many Otterbox Defenders on numerous phones. I am rough on them, and after removing them the phones look new. They offer great protection. The only issue is the clips on the holster have broke numerous times. I have this one on an iPhone 13 Pro and I like how it allows the phone to lay flat. The new camera sticks out and without the cover it is the high spot.
I have had several OtterBox cases in various colors. They hold up well, and if I change phones again, I'll purchase another one.
This is my third Otter Box case, and I'm impressed. Same rugged protection, but the case fits much closer to the phone. My previous Otter Box cases had a pronounced lip raised above the screen. This case is almost flush with the screen. My only concern is that the phone doesn't fit as snugly in the belt holster. Overall, I'm very happy.
Great materials, as expected. However: The raised “rim” of the top part of the shell has been lowered to match screen height in the center, and slightly raised at the ends. In comparison, the IPhone X frame is raised around the entire perimeter of the screen. With the new lower height, you get “palm” check on the lower corners of the screen if you hold the phone one-handed. This results in the phone thinking you're long-pressing whatever is in the lower corners. So the phone constantly thinks I want to rearrange home screen icons, activates voice texting, etc. Wish it was like the ol' iPhone X Defender Case! Will probably look for another style when it comes time to replace this one.
I've always used otter box for the great protection. Have had it on every phone. But this case gives a lot of problems for wireless charging. I take it off and it charges with no problems. Put in on and it is very positional. Wish it worked better with the iPhone 13 pro. Had the iPhone XR with the case and it worked fine. Not sure what happened. Having to go with another brand. Also the belt clip broke after 3 days of use. Looked like the edges were grinding down. These cases will protect no doubt but seem to block other features
The Holster is garbage. If you place the phone in with the screen facing out, it it more secure. If you place the phone in the holster with the screen facing in, there is a gap and the phone falls out rather easily. “Customer support said they are “working on a fix”, but how do you release a case that is obviously lacking?
Disappointed…I have bought otterbox cases for me, my wife and my son's phones (Always Defender)for years, and I'd been happy until now. I bought the Defender for an Apple 13 pro and what a surprise! Thinner and raised edges to protect camera and screen are just minimum to protect the new set of lenses and the screen. I expected something like the old Defender not like “Symmetry” . Your products are good, but this is not “RUGGED “, just another one. If you are looking an adventure case this is not the right one.
I've always liked the OtterBox Defender cases for my iPhones since the iPhone 4S. They always have provided ample protection on the front and back of the phone. But the defender case for the iPhone 13 Pro does not have ample protection for the screen or camera area of the phone. The edge of the case is barely protruding past the screen. Seems there could've been a couple of more millimeters of deepness to protect the front end camera area. Compared to previous years this case does not seem to have any margin for error.
I have bought countless Defender cases in the past and the "ruggedness" is not there anymore. The side profile ribs of this case are now so thin, they barely protect the screen from an impact. Same for the rear camera lens, the case is not deep enough. The belt clip does not have this "positive" snap clip action it used to have. The clip case flexes when you clip your case giving it a cheap and flimsy feeling. Otter has lost the focus on this Defender case by trying to "unbulk" it but this is not what a a Defender should be. A defender shall be padded and offer a strong positive clipping action. This is the worst defender case I ever bought.
