Absolutely love!! Works perfectly allowing me to be hands free and also charging my phone at same time!!
Strong magnet and great charging capability. It was well worth the investment.
I have an iPhone 12 Pro and this car mount works really well. I have used many other box products before and they never disappoint. The material that was used is very well made. I have not had any issues with the phone falling off the mount. It gives a decent charge.
I have seen phone holders that mount on your automobile air conditioning vent for years, but I thought that this is a sure way of breaking your air conditioning vent, So I have stuck to the mounts that fit into you cup holders with a cable running to my USB plug, So I was shocked after trying this Otter Box Strive wireless charger car mount for vents. I have a smaller iPhone so I needed to try my daughters XL iPhone to see how it would handle the extra weight of a large phone and I was shocked that the magnet will hold onto the phone driving down the street hitting bumps and potholes without sliding off the mount. All while keeping the phone charging. The only problem we ran into was with the bigger phone the car mount had to be moved to the lowest part of the vent to keep the vent from pointing to the floor. But I am completely happy with another great Otter Box product. I should have known that they would not put something out on the marked unless it was the best it could be. Thanks Otter Box for a great product!
I absolutely love having a wireless charger for the car. I use my phone a lot for gps so it is usually mounted. Using gps sucks up so much battery so I always have to have it plugged in. But I love that if I need the phone quickly I can just grab it and not worry about it being plugged in.
This charger only works best with Apple MegSafe cases. You'll find a few Otterbox MagSafe cases on the market. The charger also works best on vertical vents. The clip is not strong enough to hold securely on horizontal vent configurations. A neighbor stated that his charger grip was hard to open, and he had to pry it open with a bread and butter knife. We did not find this problem with the charger we have with our OtterBox Strive Series charger. This will work with an iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, both with MagSafe technology. I'm told it will not work with a Commuter Series case. The ball diameter of the mount is 17mm. In some vehicles, the OtterBox Strive Series charger's back lock to the vent is too short to reach enough of the vent blade to secure it properly. If you own a GMC truck, you may want to check this out for yourself, because this charger may not hold fast to your vent blade, causing the whole thing with your phone to fall to the floorboard. In my wife's case, she doesn't trust the vent-locking device, so she carries this charger in the cup holder, not locked to the vent.
I installed it in my Mini Cooper and was able to get the clip to grab the back of one of the vents. It is a bit floppy and holds my phone when I place it in juuuuuuuust the right spot. The magnet seems a bit too weak to me. I have another one that I use in my other car where the magnet is so strong it almost grabs my phone out of my hand. I have to plug a charger into my phone instead being able to use the neat wireless feature, but either way, something's being plugged in!
I got the OtterBox Strive Series Wireless Charger Car Vent Mount from MagSafe in black. I tend to be happy with OtterBox products but unfortunately this one fell short. Most people who have magnetic compatible cases will soon realize that the magnet is very weak. It doesn't take much for the phone to become dismounted. You would think that this common issue would be addressed. The positioning of the clip is wrong. Because the phone has a specific spot that it magnetizes it settles in a position that covers your vent completely. You sacrifice air for a phone position that could have been designed with a clip that is higher up or below where the phone rests. Even to the side would be good. Not sure why it needs to be dead center of the vent. It charges as it should but most chargers do now days. I would opt for a mount that goes on the glass or dash if you are interested in a system like this.
I have a Iphone Pro Max 11. It did not hold this phone whatsoever….not even when I removed the phone case. It definitely charges wirelessly when I held the phone up against the device. Maybe I received one with a faulty magnet? As I now understand, larger phones require a special case for this to work. I think that requirement should be prominent in the ads for the product. At $20-30 for a special case, that significantly raises the cost of the charging system. I will give to my daughter who has a smaller phone….it may work for her. It’s a very nice concept but I was disappointed.
Here we have the OtterBox Strive Series Wireless Charger Car Vent Mount for MagSafe - Black. When I first took it out of the package, the rubber lining on the two arms had melted together chemically. Had to slice them apart with a razor blade. The holder locked firmly to my vent but is almost impossible to remove. It held the phone just fine and charging was ok but didn’t charge the phone when using google maps. I am afraid that I won’t be able to remove the mount from my dash vent after being in the very hot car so I’m removing it. So I’m not recommending this one.
