NO water resistant layer
I wanted to make a water resistant or waterproof cover for a backyard, outdoor item. I was not familiar with "Ottertex" and ordered this because of it's purported water repellence. This was not what I expected. It's lightweight, maybe around 300 gsm. It is not coated one side for water repellence, For an occasional covering or dust cover, this may work OK, but I doubt that it would repel falling rain. Better luck for me next time.
