Like most OXO products, this is a very well-designed gadget. As advertised, cubes pop right out without a struggle. The lid operates smoothly and is very handy for selecting the number of cubes you need. The trays clean up easily and don't seem to stain no matter what you freeze in them. I have given away all my other ice cube trays; these are the best!
These trays are great! I have an old fridge and the freezer grows ice crystals on everything creating freezer burn even on ice. These with the lid are amazing. Easy to use and keeps my ice fresh! They do pop out easily, too. Not like the old metal ones growing up. Those had a cubed shaped insert with a handle. You had to pull the handle back to "release" the ice. All you ended up with were ice chips! You finally had to use the handle of a table knife to knock it all out...So yes, I definitely think these are better!!
Good quality. I love the design allows the cubes to be covered in the freezer to protect the contents from picking up odors. I often freeze juices or even coffee to put in my iced coffees so as to prevent regular ice from watering drinks down. Great for my large coffee to last from breakfast to lunch.
I saw America's Test Kitchen recommended the Oxo brand for ice cube trays. I'm so glad we got these! The lids are nice for stacking in the freezer without spilling. The best part is how EASY the ice cubes are to get out. After a quick twist to loosen the cubes, the ice practically falls out. While this felt pricy for ice cube tray, these beat the cheapo $2 ones any day! I've been enjoying ice in my drinks far more often.
Winner on every point - * Does not leak * Can put in small freezer at angles - even upside down * Cubes pop out easily * OXO QUALITY AND DESIGN love Love LOVE TIP: I buy fresh or frozen fruits (pineapple spears, jarred peach halves, etc), buzz with my hand immersion blend or Vitamix with a little water, pour into the ice molds and freeze. Once frozen I can empty into a freezer proof gallon ziplock and they don't stick to each other. I pop these into my ice water to make it freezing cold and add unbelievably interesting flavor combos! A FRACTION OF THE COST OF BUYING PREPARED AND NO JUNK ADDED
This is the second set of these I've purchased. Nothing wrong with the first set, I just liked them so much I added more. This is a newer design that adds "feet" to make it more stable, and a lid that is easier to get on and off.
The icemaker on my refrigerator broke, and I decided to use ice cube trays. These trays are unique in the fact that you can put a lid on them and once the cubes are frozen, you can pop a cube out at a time or twist it and remove all the tubes at one time the lid seems to be what makes these really unique.
I really like that these are stackable and that the top is hard instead of silicone, however the amount of ice that sticks to the cover makes it extremely hard to open after it freezes.
The concept of a covered ice tray is fantastic and OXO never fails on quality but, if I had not been desperate, I would never had paid $10.00 for two trays.
Hard to bend and break the ice out of the tree. Ice doesn't pop out effortlessly as described. Lid is only for stacking, it does NOT prevent spills. Definitely not worth the price.
