OXO Softworks Smooth Potato Masher

This masher is more useful than I imagined!! I make my pet's food and this size masher works much better than the long handled potato masher. It's small, oval shaped and has a shorter handle, all of which make it much easier to use and a more efficient mash. Very happy with this useful tool!

I can do a quick, light smash and get creamy side potatoes that can be mixed with a sauce or make lumpy to smooth mashed potatoes. I prefer the handle this way and like it better than wire mashers.

I've been using a pastry cutter to mash my potatoes; so I thought I should get a proper masher. I find the pastry cutter is actually faster and takes less muscle. I might look for a masher of similar design but where the bottom surface is not flat, but has triangular points, so it can cut as well as mash. I don't know if there is such a thing, but I would expect that it would make the job quicker %26 easier.

The masher I first ordered was unavailable, so I chose this one, which is now in the trash. It did not mash well, too lightweight, and the plate holes just didn't work, a tableware fork mashed better.

Great idea, wrong material.
