Worked great for under my boat console
My old boat's 12 volt plug was cracked and worn. This was a super-easy replacement. I didn't use the bracket, I just swapped out the old plug with the new 2 USB plug and I was good to go! I unscrewed the old plug and used the existing power connection - the whole process took less than 10 minutes.
This simple little accessory makes being out on your boat just that much more enjoyable. You can easily wire and mount these with the included supplies. If is so nice to be able to charge my phone or my power bank while I'm out and about in the boat finally. It is 12V so it should fit right in on your boat!
This Ozark Trail USB power outlet is well built and a quality product. Lots of current to charge devices quickly. Works very well and does not produce any RFI. My neighbor had to help me install it and now he wants one. Great for on-the-go charging for phones, tablets and other USB devices. Comes with installation instructions too.
The build quality of this USB power outlet is outstanding. The outer material is a nice substantial rubberized coating. There is a nice blue rubber cap that fits well with 2 nibs that fit into the USB adapter to keep it tight and insure a water tight seal. The unit has a adjustable mounting bracket that turns in a 180 degree angle to adjust the look of the USB position. It comes with 2 mounting screws and 2 crimping wire links. It's 2 thick red and black positive and negative wires are about 6 inches long and are sodererd for easy installation.
We have an older boat and this was so great to be able to install. It comes with everything you need to install. We like that it's a dual charger so two people can charge their phones at the same time. So far it's worked great with no issues. My husband installed and it was easy to read instructions and installation.
Is not a fast charger but gets the job done.
When I received the OT 12-Volt Marine USB Power Outlet, I was somewhat disappointed. I was expecting something that you pop into the cigarette lighter to provide you with USB charging access. Not so. This item REPLACES the cigarette lighter, or, is mounted somewhere on the dash (or wherever you like) and wired into the electrical system (says to use "any hot lead"). Yep, you got it, you have to actually replace the cigarette lighter, or at least find a place to connect to "any hot lead," and wire it in. This wasn't clear even with the picture of the product when I ordered it. It looks like it just pops in to the cigarette lighter. (However, on very close detailed inspection, you can see the wires coming out of the end, and the mounting bracket, but just barely!) So, I actually haven't used it yet, since it wasn't what I expected. I guess for a replacement or a "new" item, IF YOU KNEW it had to be wired in, it would work just fine...
My husband installed this into his old 4 runner. The old cigarette lighter that was there previously there was a bit smaller. I guess this is better than the the other problem. He was able to make the hole bigger with a cutting tool. The waterproofing is just icing on the cake!
This particular one did not work as it should have. It would light up, but that was it. Tried to troubleshoot the problem, but it had many mixed reviews of what was better, wired or not wired. I got the wired one, and there seem to be a lot of problems with the wired ones.
