a different use and very effective
I don't know about using on a boat but I can tell you it works great for protecting the side of my car in the parking lot where I work. I tied a thin rope to it and close the door on the rope and it stays in place perfectly. No more dents and dings and pain chips in my car door from other people rudely smashing their doors into mine. I am very pleased.
