This is a private label version of a Tsunami "shield" reel that normally retails for over $100. It has sealed SS bearings, 13 other waterproofing seals, metal frame, composite spool. Note there are no exposed screws for weathertightnessl. Reel requires a special tool for disassembly/assembly. Special tool is included plus 2 spool alignment washers. The only concern I have at this point is that parts are probably not gonna be available. One more thing. The spool has a straight lip, which may have a negative impact on long distance casts. All in all, if you can find these on sale, I'd say it's a good buy.
Mid-size reel for surf fishing paired with a 9 foot Ozark Trails Grit Stick. Have already caught several pompano with this setup and it has a nice smooth action.
The build quality is top notch and the the price was unbeatable, at the end of the day walmart saved me alot of money and gave me a quality product.
Amazing deal for an aluminum sealed reel.
Not Penn Battle, but for the price it a great value.
Works great got it paired with a 7 foot ugly stick
This reel has got more seals and smoother sealed bearings than a reel that cost over $250 It is unfortunate that Walmart and Ozark trail no longer make the 4000 6000 and 8000 reals. If you can locate one online buy it it's worth the money.
Pretty good. The only issue that has shown itself is the drag clicker failed on one reel, other than that, smooth operation and really smooth drag discs. Good strong construction.
This is same as Tsunami Guard seems like maybe these are maybe the factory seconds from the Guard production -- though Guards also seem to have some of same failures from reviews saying Clunking noise after limited use or brand new. Purchase 5 of these - 2 seem great 3 of them have loud clunk and jarring when reeling in same place - like the main gear is bad. I also purchassed 7 6000 series and 3 of them have the same clunk 1 as bad and 2 not as bad as the 4000. That's quite the defective rate. Makes me worry quite a bit why the issues, what it actually is and if the others are going to have the same issue. I've seen people use these Ozarks for at least a year without issue and with massive sale not sure if it's worth risking keeping any or not. To me a reel should last a lifetime with minimal upkeep. I have tons of reels from many manufacturers with almost no failures over decades so instant failure and maybe failure of "good" reel after months or a year or two is VERY worrisome.
Ordered online with it showing in stock. Was excited for this reel. The. Delayed emails started coming in then wamm, Walmart cancelled my order. Bummer for me. At least I got the gear for the reel sent to me.
