Ever since I was little, I have used the PAAS kits to dye eggs for Easter. When I had my own kiddos, there was no doubt we would continue the egg dying tradition every year. Their favorite would have to be the marble kit. All the kits are great and we love using any of them. But, the marbling turns out so neat and beautiful. I love that it comes with two dippers and nine color tablets. With this kit, you will need vinegar AND oil to get the desired effect. I cannot wait to use it in a few weeks.
This egg dye kit has good directions and the box is shiny and sturdy so the eggs can easily sit in it for drying after you pop out the circles. Don't worry about losing directions by popping the circles out on the back, there are directions inside too. There are 2 dippers, 9 colors, a sheet of little egg stands and a cloth to wipe your eggs. The marbling is not really part of the kit. You will need to add oil from your pantry to make that happen, but the directions are good so if you have oil, you will be fine. You will also need vinegar of your own.
I was raised on PAAS brand since I was young. The PAAS brand has been around since the 1800's or so. I love the products PAAS offers and how the selection is never boring. I grew up using PAAS brand and I'm proud to be passing it on to my daughter. I hope my daughter can one day pass PAAS onto her own family. I absolutely love that the dye isn't staining to the degree I'm rubbing skin off to remove it. The colors are eye catching and bright and so beautiful. I hate to eat the eggs later that's my only issue. Everything is so incredible I'm afraid to even eat the eggs I just want to put them in a collection or something. Thank you for yet again making my Easter so much fun.
I have been looking for the marble egg dying kit for a couple of years. The egg kit is easy to use for the older kids and produces beautifully colored shiny eggs! (It's a bit too messy for the younger kids, just an fyi.) All the kids are enthralled with these eggs. Because they are not just a plane color but a nice swirled marble color with a shiny coding!
This is the only brand I use for dying eggs. Their kits make it so much easier, and my kids love all the different varieties they have available. My only recommendation would be to buy the cups as well. I definitely recommend!
I like thr ease of mixing the paint tablets with the water to create the mix. Very easy to use. Gets a bit messy if working with kids but it sure is fun. Comes with 2 smalls packs of tablets so you dont run out.
So for this kit, you will need vinegar and oil. It includes the classic style color tablets that you add to vinegar and water, for this kit it tells you to add a tablespoon of vegetable oil to the mix- and that is what will create the marble effect. So we colored a dozen eggs- while I would guess the kit could do at least 3-4 dozen eggs. I found the kit to be a mess with the oil- once the oil stuck to the egg - it would not allow the color to set in. My daughter kept handling the egg - as kids will do- and got oil everywhere. We also wanted to dip the eggs into a second color- but that the oil that stuck during the first color application would not allow any more color to penetrate unless we created more of a mess by trying to wipe the oil off. The end result of some of our eggs was great- while others not so much. This was not my favorite kit. Here's a tip- do not add oil to all the colors, instead maybe color a few eggs with a base color first. Then add oil if you want to dip a second color for the tie dye effect.
I wish the little crayon was more sturdy like they were back in the day
We have always been loyal to the PAAS Egg Decorating brand. Typically we chose their classic dye set with the cups and tablets that simply require vinegar. We will definitely stick with that classic kit in the future. The marble eggs come out looking nothing like the packaging and are more of a nasty mess. The packaging (see photo) supposedly turns into an egg tray, but it is very flimsy and pretty useless, as are the "egg stands" noted on the packaging which are inside. I would recommend just doing the classic PAAS egg dye with cups instead. This kit looks great from a marketing perspective but isn't really all it is cracked up to be.
check package immediately for missing dye packages . . . I didn't and the package of 4 colors is missing!
