Great product surprised me!!

rdknt1 July 18, 2022

Got new hood hinges for an old pickup im working on. They came with a flat black edp protective coating on them to prevent rusting. Well, I used a glossy black engine paint on them. They looked better. Then i decided to try the DupliColor 1K Clear Extreme Pearl Finish over the black. WOWW. THEY LOOK BEAUTIFUL. At that instant, I decided that alot more than just the hinges under the hood were gonna get the same treatment.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Seven years ago I paint my street rod (1931 sedan) " Molten Red" paint is still holding up good and looks like day I painted it. I am building another rod and will be using duplicator products on it as well.

Inexpensive diy respray with paint shop

Tamatx May 18, 2026

I painted my 08 Tacoma championship white over the paint shop primer and then with the paint shop gloss clear. Everything came out great, though I am still trying to figure out how to eliminate orange peel with this paint. Also did the wheels with the duplicolor hyper silver combo, again the results were ok, I wasn't looking for a show-quality finish just something that looked good.

Thin it!

TJ01 January 22, 2022

Paint went on a little hot and didn't wanna lie down. Cut the jet black and the gloss clear coat both with about 15 percent acetone. Laid right down. Don't be afraid to put some paint on it, it doesn't run real easy. For a first timer I was pleased with results.

Worked like a champ!

Donnie April 3, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a hobbyist painter who ran out of clear coat while painting a number of flaked out helmets one evening. There's an auto parts store not far from the house and a buddy works there so I gave him a call. He set a side two 32oz containers of Paint Shop, Gloss Clear, Finish System. I rushed to the store just before close, was happy for the homie hook up, and completely missed LACQUER down low on the can! When I got home and discovered this I thought, " ... guess we'll find out". To my amazement this stuff poured out of the can and through my strainer like thinned Karo syrup! Had to have been on that store shelf a minute, right? I had the pressure a little off at first on my gun, but after an adjustment seemed to be spraying well on my test panel. I decided to just go for it and surprise SURRISE things were looking good. I went in the house for a bit with momma and ... Next day I wet sanded with 2000 grit and was trying to decide if a second coat would be wise. My buddy stopped in to see how I was doing and said, "just hit 'em with your polisher bro". So that's what I did and WOW! Alright, I did everything like a total HACK and still got great results. I'm probably NOT the guy who's review will matter to you, but maybe it should.

Love how easy it is to get amazing results

Hobo Jake July 20, 2022

Iv been using duplicolor paint shop for the last few months and I'm ecstatic with how my projects turn out. Because it's a lacquer based system it takes out the headache of worrying about a time window. I just wish that there were more Candy colors because it seems that in Canada the only color I can find is the candy red. I would love to see some teals or purples and magentas. That would really kick things up a notch.

Possible Shelf life issue?

Chaney September 3, 2023

bought from local auto zone, two cans of jet black two cans of clear... would not atomize until 50psi, tried two diff guns/tips, both devilbiss , one finishline 1.3 tip, one gti-pro lite, 1.4 tip... both could not get to atomize correctly, air dryer was working fine... mixed for 5-8 mins each...3m pps cup system... Ive painted maybe 10-12 whole cars and 5-6 bikes... not the best but have knowledge to get it to lay ok and minimal cut-buff... i am literally going to have to remove everything, the black dried almost immediately out of the tip even at 14 psi and was decent in some spots after air was waaaay up... layed the clear and was a complete nightmare ... completely white in some spots and looks almost like solvent pop or water but its not a fisheye or a raised pocket , its like the pigment just moved? i looked in the bottom of the quarts and in the black there is chunks of what looked to be dry air bubbles. its hard to explain.. grabbed a pint of a metallic black i painted a bike with 3 years ago and reduced it and ran through the gun and atomized fine at 18-20 at tip, and after it dried I rattle can cleared and was amazing compared to this... I'm dumbfounded .... batch number "em0803by 03780 jxh" batch em1443mz 05571 jxh" and batch em1473hj was the second one but i got some paint on rest of batch number on that one... I'm curious if i bought some really old stuff? this wasn't cheap... over 125 in material for a door hood and a fender for a customers civic... wanted to help but seems like this wasn't the quality i was looking for sheeew
