I have used this camera for several years and three previous iterations of the model before. It started out as a second camera with my DSLR as a primary. Over time I find myself using this camera more and more as a primary camera. It is great for travel and mature photography with it's long zoom, many filter modes and its clear Leica glass. I am thinking about downsizing and selling my bulky DSLR and lenses because I always find myself reaching for this outstanding camera.
This camera was amazing easy to use for a non tech type person and the video and pics came out beautifully
I bought my DMC-FZ300 new in June 2020, so it's been going strong for over four years. Originally it was going to be my convenience camera when I didn't feel like getting out my DSLR; my DSLR hasn't been out of the bag since I bought this little workhorse. This thing is rugged and versatile. Image quality is amazing with studio lights, natural lighting, low light, night mode, flash, macro, telephoto, stills, video. Downsides? Controls are not super intuitive but with frequent use I've gotten better at using them. With a roller on the side instead of a focus ring, follow focus and pull focus are really difficult, if not impossible. Still a five-star review for the value and performance it offers.
Excellent service. Camera received quickly, and in perfect condition.
I have other cameras, but this is the one I use most often. Utilize its strong points (constant aperture, raw capture), respect its limits, and it will work overtime for you.
Owned this camera for a month now and have taken about 100 pics on it so far. Love the viewfinder flip out screen that is also a touch screen for easy camera setup. Love how you get a constant F- stop throughout full zoom of 600mm Not too many bridge cameras have this feature. I have been very impressed with my photography. And with the help of online teachers on different platforms you can maximize the use of this camera. Love that is weather resistant because this will be my go to hiking camera.
I have only had this camera for three weeks, I found the controls to be quite confusing even though I have had a lot of camera experience. I wanted a camera to carry on my walks and found the FZ300 to be a lot for your money. The zoom although not as long as my canon SX40, yet long enough for bird shots. Perfect lens better than any camera I have used aside from my dslr. Photos are very good quality, not quite as good as DSLR but really close. I just could not afford a lens with this zoom and aperture for my DSLR.
Great camera at a very fair price until it wasn't. Long zoom range at F2.8 is quite remarkable. Multi-shot setting combined with Aurora HDR editing software in post enabled small sensor to punch above its weight class. Screen & EVF are now blacked out like there is a lens cap on. They still show setting information and menu options, so I assume the sensor or motherboard died after 6 (good) years of use. I considered upgrading to the 1" sensor superzoom, but they are getting old and are due for an update.
Before I even purchased this camera I watched some videos about it to make sure this is what I wanted. The photographer who made the videos was using the Panasonic Lumix fz300 BUT, he didn't have to flip the viewfinder out to use it. He could see everything with the viewfinder closed. When I received my camera yesterday I discovered that the viewfinder on mine has to be open to see anything. I find this puzzling and annoying. I'm now doing some research to see if all of these fz300 cameras are the same. In my opinion, having the viewfinder opened up when in use is a negative thing. It can get broken if not handled very carefully and is it going to be an issue when the camera is on a tripod?
"The iA mode doesn't take the best pictures. For the other modes you need to play with the settings to figure out what works the best for you. At the beginning I was disappointed because my Samsung phone takes much better pictures. But playing with other modes (A, P, S) and adjusting contrast, sharpness, NR I've got good pictures. So if you know what are you doing, this is a good camera. It not, you will be disappointed. Zoom and selective focus works very well."
