An absolutely GOAT hybrid mirrorless camera

Anonymous December 30, 2025

Most looking at the LUMIX S1RM2 have a focus on photography. And for the photographer this camera delivers in spades. However, what is frequently missed in photography centric purchases is the significant video features that this camera model brings to the table. With the latest version of the firmware, I've used it to record 8.1K 3:2 OpenGate for over three hours using the DCC18 USB-C dummy battery and an external SSD drive connected to the USB-C port. I've done this for 4 events now and it's a solid performer with amazing results in the color science.

Exceeds my expectations.

Mystical Merkat December 23, 2025

In many ways the S1RII exceeds my expectations. The CAF tracking works well IMO and I am a huge fan of Lumix colors! Battery life is okay and made easier by the compatibility with GH6,7 etc. batteries. Ergonomics are among the best in the business and I love Lumix colors.. My only gripe is that the new new features are basically not documented (other than their existence) which has been annoying but not really a big deal.. I'm just not really wanting to experiment at length.

At last a camera of my dreams

Bones May 24, 2025

After almost 70 years I have the camera of my dreams. Take a look at the image from a live performance of the Minzu University Dance Troupe on 21st May 2025 in Banska Bystrica Slovakia. I was not able to see a performance rehearsal so there was no chance of any trial photographs. Panasonic Lumix just performed with Autofocus set to continuous with stunning results ( OK I am biased but my friends think the images are stunning as well ) John Edwin Skelton 25th May 2025

It just does everything I need. The only thing that needs to be improved is the view finder.

Recently switched to Panasonic and I'm working on building up my glass. This camera has made the switch totally worth it.

Good

Great video. Poor battery but good overall size so fair enough… I've yet to go out and fully test it but coming from a Nikon z5, the handgrip is a tiny bit too narrow or square so it's a downgrade there but still way better than a Sony a73… Video is absolutely gorgeous. Photos look realistic, although I personally still give Nikon and Leica a slight edge when it comes to contrast and colour, but the video of the Panasonic more than makes up for it. I believe the new Nikon zr will be even better but you have record with ten times the file size (bit rate) to do achieve parity with the Panasonic - the Panasonic will win in all other compressed formats that you will actually want to use. I saved the best till last and that is the stabilisation. Nikon absolutely rubbish compared to this Panasonic level of stabilisation, particularly for video. Part of me still sad I didn't get a used Leica sl2-s for its compressed video but then the autofocus wouldn't be good enough would it and it would be too heavy. Solid decision but kind of looks and feels like Lego.

A worthy flagship camera

JulianC September 17, 2025

A fantastic camera. As someone who previously used an S5 for landscape work and a G9II for wildlife the S1RM2 comfortably replaces both, producing lush, detailed images. AF performance is excellent, as are the ergonomics. Not a cheap purchase, but one that should last me a long, long time!

Best IBIS for still shooting. Highly recommended.

garyabq January 8, 2026

I bought the S1RII April 2025. This camera was to replace an Leica SL2. I did this because the S1RII is over 1/4 pound lighter in weight. This is important to me since I broke my back and neck early 2024. Currently I am using this camera with the Lumix 18–40 zoom. The single most positive element of my use thus far is the IBIS. This feature is an order of magnitude better than I ever expected. The best over my Canon and Nikon cameras. As an example when I bought this camera I was still using a Leica 23mm TL lens (35mm equivalent). We took a jeep tour through Monument Valley AZ. This ride is very rough, bouncy and overall should be a nightmare for a camera if shooting while riding. And it was. However all of the many shots I took riding in the back of the jeep were sharp, well focused, and correct exposure. Amazing camera tech performance. The one negative I would say is the vast and deep menus. I had a Lumix S5II in 2023 and sold it from the frustration I had navigating the menus. This time I was determined NOT to let this camera get the best of me. I have found the info button very helpful when attempting to change a setting. I do only still shooting and it seems the majority of settings are video oriented but with this menu help I have been able to make most changes somewhat effectively. In summary I would recommend this digital camera to anyone wanting a superior L mount camera.

Those extra megapixel are worth it!

Siahaan March 29, 2025

All the specs I need!, I sold my lumix S5iix for this camera, there is nothing wrong with the S5iix but I need this extra megapixel for cropping.
