Paper Mario Sticker Star Video Game - Nintendo 3DS

This game is fantastic!Unlike the other paper mario games, you have to collect stickers and use them to defeat enemies. There are Thing stickers, which give you special abilities and need to use them to uncover secret areas. You also collect stickers for a sticker museum. It is extremely addicting so proceed with caution!

Some DS games are too complicated for him to figure out (Ninjago and Bakugan) but he loves this one and excels at it. Keeps his attention a long time.

My grandson was totally thrilled to see that we added this game to his collection. Hours of fun and entertainment!

I think the fun factor and interest make the game great. It is not an RPG like the original Paper Mario, but it's still fun to collect and use the stickers in your battle strategy.

I bought a 3ds bundle pack which came with either a game or a case. I chose the game and was so shocked to find out that this is better than a more expensive game that I actually paid for. Clearly I was expecting it to be not as great since it was free but its actually a little addictive.

I bought the Nintendo DS2 system from Walmart and received this game as a bonus. As always Mario is like an old friend who brings fun and adventure to electronic gaming.

Paper Mario Sticker Star is a decent entry in the Paper Mario series of games. It maintains the turn based gameplay seen in Paper Mario 64 and Paper Mario: The thousand Year Door but with new additions. The biggest change is that Mario now has to collect stickers that he can use to attack in battle. These stickers determine they type of attack he performs as well as the strength of the attack. At first I found this mechanic to be a strange new addition, but I found that stickers are easy to find scattered within the game's levels. Overall everything else is what you would expect from a paper mario game, including the sense of humor in the game's writing that paper mario fans have come to expect. If you were a fan of previous paper mario games, you will most likely enjoy this entry in the series.

I want to make one thing clear right off the bat: Do NOT make this your first Paper Mario game. This game hardly has any tutorial at all, and while some would laud that, first-time Paper Mario players will be at a severe disadvantage without having any experience in the combat mechanic present in the Mario RPGs involving pressing a button at the right time to do extra damage. Now that that's out of the way, I will get on with the review proper. This is quite an interesting game in the Paper Mario franchise; it adds quite a few new twists while retaining the series' characteristic charm. Combat revolves entirely around stickers that you find basically anywhere that's not a fight. If you don't pick these up, you're doomed, so keep an open eye out for them. Experience points are not implemented into the game, instead rewarding successful fights with coins, which of course serve as the game's currency. I have mixed thoughts on this. Considering Mario is dependent on stickers, it is nice to have plenty of them to stock up. However, I myself have'nt found myself going out of my way to do some shopping. All in all, I recommend it. It keeps things fresh while at the same time delivering what you would expect, which I was hoping it would do in the first place. It's not terrible, but it's not great either.
