Paramount Home Video Star Trek (DVD) (2 Disc)

When I first heard that there were talks about a new Star Trek movie based on Kirk and Spock's academy days I was cautious as to expect much of anything. Like most Trek fans I have come to know and love the characters we are all familiar with and am always a little leary of change. As I started to see previews of the new movie my interest started to rise. By the time the movie came out I was excited to see it and now i've seen it 6 times. Needless to say, I enjoyed the movie and look forward in seeing what they can do with things in the sequels that are sure to follow.

The DVD is excellent. Well indexed. It did have some minor issues on my old Samsung DVD player, overloading the memory and crashing the DVD player. The special features were a bit disappointing, as well. A large part of the Special Features disk was the hidden compartment for the iTunes and WMP versions. No interactive content, not even the 3d views of the kelvin from the website. (I was hoping for similar for the Enterprise.) Also, no integration of the deleted scenes. However, given the extra $3 for the extra features and the copy on my iPod (amuse the children in the car), it's decent value for money. Really, tho', the hassle of hitting the net for the authorization to rip it from disk was annoying. The movie is, however, really growing on me with each rewatching, and it's the best trek movie since TWOK... IMNSHO.
