This all-cotton quilt batting is perfect for making microwavable bowl cozies and baked potato bags. It's a good thickness. and stays together well while sewing, even though it doesn't have the binding chemicals found in other cotton battings. Walmart has it for a price well under the competition and I appreciate that it was delivered on the same day that I ordered it.
Using a LOT of this to make Christmas gifts for large family. This was the best price I found - until I found it by the bolt and decided I was going to use enough to make that a practical purchase. If you only need enough for a few items this is the best price I found for smaller amounts. I spent a lot of time searching. Product was exactly like more costly previous purchases from other retailers. Need this because my items need to be microwave safe. Sucks to 'pre-shrink' and wait for it to dry but I want a nice looking and usable result.
This batting works as expected. I am using it for bowl cozies and will also be making a couple of the potato cookers, too! (Be sure to use 100% cotton thread and use 100% cotton fabric if your items will be used in the microwave!) I like that it stretches a little, so if you are cutting it and you are off by a little, you can fudge it. I do notice that it is 'linty', so make sure to vacuum your bobbin area after sewing this. If you want to reduce lint collecting in the bobbin area, sew with the batting on the top. If you are sensitive to airborne lint, I would highly recommend wearing a mask.
This is a wonderful product. It's perfect for what I'm using it for which is to make both cozy for the microwave to give as gifts and To use for crafts not the right thickness for pillow s. Easy to use for Christmas. It's perfect because you don't want to use anything with polyester in your microwave way it'll melt but thank you so much.
This is great when making crafts that will be used in the microwave. It is easy to work with and the sewing machine accepts it well. I have compared prices and they range all over the place. Walmart has been steady with the price and it is worth it
I purchased this as a recommendation for batting in a project I was working on. I made quilted "bowl cozies" as gifts for family at Christmas. The batting thickness is very much like a natural cotton batting. Cush and perfect for what I was doing. I see no sense in microwaving a cozy, but I can see someone putting their bowl of chili or whatever in the cozy and then putting it in the microwave to heat the chili. DO NOT DO THIS. Mostly, it defeats the purpose. You want the cozy to insulate the heat and to keep your hands from getting too warm carrying a bowl of hot food. You don't want the cozy "hot out of the microwave". To me, the wrap and zap will help keep this "mistake" safer than if you used a regular, normal, conventional batting. I will use wrap and zap for any project that I feel a need. For crafts such as the tortilla pockets made of fabric (to keep them warm after they've been heated). The width was great in the the total size I was able to get about a dozen cozies out of a single package. Well worth it!
This item is good quality and exactly what I needed for all my Christmas sewing projects. I have started making microwave safe bowl cozys and next will be tortilla warmers. You get a lot of material for the price as well. I did have an issue with the delivery however. I ordered and paid for 8 packs but only received 7. The situation was rectified through a refund but a small hassle.
The Pellon Wrap -N-Zap Quilt batting works very well in the projects I've been doing. I have tried another brand similar to this, but it was not of the same quality. I always use this product when I make microwave cozy bowls for gifts. The price for this product is very reasonable.
Love the product and the fact that it was delivered the next day BUT the driver left it at the office and not at the building I live in. Most all deliveries are left on a table in the foyer for us to pick up. So if I order anything from Walmart again, I'll have to be more specific on delivery methods.
I ordered 2-twin packs of this and only received A pack. called customer service and they said I should have checked first to make sure they had it in stock before ordering. I DID..it showed it in stock or I wouldn't have ordered it for pick up..watch what you order!!!
