Easy to operate, great performance amazing product

UKJ April 14, 2020

Wish I had bought these years ago. Great value, great performance (mic is so sensitive I can hear my clock ticking softly whilst wearing them !) Easy to operate, great performance at the range, simply wonderful and great value at around 100 bucks.

Great protective headphones

Erik November 1, 2018

Fantastic pair of headphones, might work a bit too well if anything. I can barely hear myself talk in them. Though I haven't taken them to the range yet, I am fully confident they will perform marvelously for both indoor and outdoor, and for both small and large bore weapons. They're lighter than they look and rest comfortably on my fairly large without excessive strain or pushing on my ears. I could wear these for hours without discomfort. My only complaint is that they do not come with a battery, which seems kind of cheap given the price, and that the compartment for the battery is difficult to open, and I worry about breaking the plastic tab that covers the battery housing. Overall a great pair of headphones, I'll be getting my dad a pair for Christmas.

This product was priced (when originally viewed the day prior) over twenty dollars less than the cost of said product the very next day ($127.00/$150.00).

Amazing!! Best I have ever used.

Gen X May 29, 2025

I bought these 5 months back and they are bad to the bone. I've been in IT for over 25 years and this is the best Bluetooth capable headsets that I have ever used, which is range ready. There's some outstanding Engineering going on here. The only thing I wish could be changed in the menu setting, would be to allow for ambient background sound to continue to flow through, will on a bluetooth phone call. Currently it turns off all background sound when on a call. Or at least have an option to turn it on or off on the fly, from one of the buttons on the side. Also, If they would offer this set with a boom mic and Bluetooth VOX button, my wife would have to hide my credit card. I'd be buying them for the whole family, lol. One final thing, please make a 3M Peltor app for Android that could be used for firmware updates and other adjustments from a phone. Otherwise I would defiantly recommend these.

love the earmuffs (sport tactical 500). Did the plastic break , yes. I have got a replacement part. https://www.etsy.com/listing/4339958010/hearing-protector-repair-part-stl-peltor?ref=shop_home_active_1&logging_key=42f302306b86945774151c16cdcffb128c3b2018%3A4339958010

Amazing Quality & Features, HORRIBLE headband

Froman July 14, 2017

I love the way this unit attenuates gunfire, airtools, industrial noise while allowing clear speech & bluetooth device access to my cellphone & laptop. I can listen to music while working outside but still answer phone calls or talk to crew members locally but..... This has the most uncomfortable headband I have ever worn. The ribs literally dig divots into my scalp! I am frantically trying to figure out if another Peltor model's headband can be adapted to my Sport Tactical 500s

Enjoy the features...some issues.

Russ December 2, 2017

I bought this product in July, 2017 and use it (not always on a firing range) 3-4 times a week for approximately 2 hours each use. All of the parts seem to be of good quality. I never have to worry about them breaking if handled roughly or if I toss them in a bag full of gear. I even accidentally dropped them from around 5' on a tile floor...no problem. The Bluetooth connected easily and it has reconnected 100% of the time when powering up (unlike many devices). I really like the mics. I've tried other products of my friends, in the same price range, and I would rather have these. Good sound pick up and very little hum. However, there is no getting around it, the headband is uncomfortable. I noticed it within a minute or two and, for me, it's bearable, but it's an issue. I too have folded up a rag to put between the band and my head, but who wants to spend that kind of money only to go around with a rag on your head. Also, my device seems to have a short in the power button. If I hear an electronic click when I press the power button, the unit will not come on no matter how long I hold the button. I have to release it and press it again. This is about 50% of the time and, for me, it's really not an issue because it will power up 100% of the time on the second try. Without these two issues (particularly the headband), for the price, I would have given it 5 stars...however... -December 2017

Another review of broken headset

PeaseOfferTheRepairPart November 9, 2025

Add me to the list of frustrated customers. There is no point in adding pictures. If you're reading reviews, they are all the same failure point. I really liked these but they broke due to a cheap plastic piece and I certainly will not buy another pair. Pros- (after adding 3M gel cups) these are super comfortable! I have worn them for 8-10 hour days without issue or complaint. They offer good NRR for being at the range. I haven't shot indoors for several years but I would suspect it would be wise to double up. The sound cutoff is fabulous..my favorite attribute. Mid-priced competitor models seem to completely cut out for a second where as these react much faster. That feature made me really enjoy this model. From a a functional prospective they have been my favorite headset. Cons- The volume could be a bit louder. Having a couple more clicks up would have been nice. BT music is always much lower than ambient sound. They are a bit bulky but not the worst I have seen. The biggest con is this stupid plastic design. I accept that things can break. I looked on online for a replacement part...nope...it doesn't exist. Coming here I see that I am not nearly alone...it happens all the time. That's the real shame here...3M knows about it and simply doesn't care. I'm not a tree hugging environmentalist but it's silly to toss away a headset that you like and still works simply because the manufacturer will not offer a cheap plastic replacement part that is known to fail. We have all looked at the broken part, it's easily removable and hence would be easily replaceable. Its just ridiculous that you cant get the part. 3M-Customers are literally begging you to take money from them. Sell them in pairs because we all know the other side will break shortly. I'll buy a new headset but it absolutely positively will not be another Peltor 500.

Great features but bad quality!

Zolnierz March 27, 2022

I used these headphones for less than a year every day at the shooting range. So far, they have been doing great, unfortunately, after about 11 months of use, the headband holding the headphones on the head broke. I understand that these are not headphones from the Work Style series, but I respected them so far and I was careful during use, and despite everything they broke ... This is a very poor recommendation for such a well-known company. I do not recommend these headphones, unless you go out to the shooting range at most once a month, then maybe they will last you longer, but remember to be very careful with them, because they are very delicate and fall apart on their own. Apart from that, everything worked as it should, and until my headband broke, I was generally satisfied, although the sound quality could have been better. Do not buy! There are better products!

Broke in same spot as other reviews reported!

Jjackson November 12, 2019

Bought the Tactical Sport 500 to replace another set of Peltors (Sport 100) that broke in the same spot on the headband that many others have reported, thinking that the more expensive model would have solved this problem. I love the noise reduction, love the comfort, love the ability to communicate clearly with my students while wearing them, and wear them several days a week for much of the day in my profession as a firearms instructor. However, they broke in exactly the same place again! The plastic piece that connects the headband to the ear cup failed and the cup no longer seals. So now they're useless. And I haven't even had them that long. Come on, Peltor, listen to your customers and fix this!
