Penn-Plax Cascade 100 Power Filter – Hang-On Filter with Quad Filtration

This is a very quiet self-priming filter. It doesn't throw the fish around the tank because of the quad piece hanging over the waterfall. I changed the media to make it more economical to run. I replaced the biosponge with a 30 PPI sponge. Then turned the sponge holder around to hold a cut to fit media pad. Charcoal is not necessary, but there are charcoal infused media pads available if you want it. The cartridge can be rebuilt by adding loose charcoal and sewing a media pad to it.

This is a great product. Well worth the money. Very good flow. Fish don't gather at the top of water for oxygen. I highly recommend this product

Day 1: So far so good for my rescue goldfish (was used to keep skeeters from green pool). Fairly quiet. Need to extend the suction tube so that it touches the bottom of my 10 gallon tank. Easy to wash poly filter. There's room to add my own refillable carbon bag. Looks like water flowing off a smooth pool edge if you don't use the flow disperser. Definitely worth the $.
