PENN Pursuit IV Spinning Reel Kit, Size 6000, Includes Reel Cover

Great heavy duty reel for bass and pike fishing. I also use this for catfish and carp. It will work great in saltwater with the high quality components and it's very smooth. The handle also helps a lot with big fish.

For the price where can you get sealed bearings, sealed drag, carbon drag washers? Internals are the same as the fierce iv. The graphite body does not flex, line Kay is good enough. Best beater reels there are, no they aren't as smooth as a battle or daiwa fuego etc but they flat work.

2nd review on this reels. I purchased a 5000 series which was to heavy for plugging/jigging. Put it in my surf rod with a 9' rod and it works perfect. Then went and purchased a 4000 series which is about 7-7.5oz lighter than the 5000 and it's literally one of the best reels hands down. Smooth. Reliable. For the price can't beat it. At all.

Best all around spinning reel for the price. The reel is smooth and durable. It's about $20 cheaper than elsewhere and shipping is fast and free. Large spool holds plenty of line(mono or braid) plus backing. I purchased both the 3000 and the 4000 both for saltwater fishing. They will last years or longer with proper care and maintenance. Most important rinse off after every use dry and/or let air dry. After rinse off I always hit the entire reel with a light hit of WD-40(Water Displacement-40th Formula) or equivalent. One thing that might bother some buyers is that I received size small reel covers for both reels(retail $15 ) and I can just barely squeeze the 3000 in the cover with the handle loosened(folded like it is when you first open the box) and close the flap of the cover. The covers are to be put over reel while still on rod but not really happening with size small even with the 3000. Size medium and up covers sell for $20 but I don't need to cover my reels. The covers are very nice(small pocket in front also) and have many other possible uses. Easily store phone, wallet and/or hooks, jigs, packs of lures...whatever I want to keep well protected and fairly safe from water(not get soaked but splash protect). I carry light, stay mobile and can fit my personal effects, lures, leader and terminal gear in the cover which is all gravy because you are getting a great reel at the lowest price that I have found and the reel cover(A deal I don't see anywhere else) Maybe you could contact Walmart or Penn to see about getting the right size cover before you purchase. Either way these will sell out.

The Penn Pursuits are a great reel for the price. I have several of the 4000 reels some are the newer 4 and some are the older 3 series. They all work great and have no issues. I use them exclusively in saltwater. I have caught lots of bull redfish on them as well as large snook and sharks upto 4ft. All of these species will stress a reels drag system. The drag on all of my reels still work flawlessly.

I haven't been happy with the newer penn reals lately and will not buy a penny rod again as they break with little to no effort. But this particular real is bullet proof and built extremely well. This is absolutely a super deal for the cost. I would pick this real over any other one out there. Works great when dropped in the water and all sandy. Takes a beating extremely well.

Very good fishing rod for all categories, you can use the rod for in shore fishing as well as fresh water fishing. Good quality and a must if you fish often, sturdy and reliable if you set the proper rig up.

Bought two of these reels for catfishing and I Absolutely love them! Best purchase I've made so far 😉. I'm giving 4 stars because 5 would be perfect and we all know nothing is perfect.

Nice reel but the included reel case is way too small for this reel. It's a "Large" reel case that's included. Penn needs to update their reel case sizing. "Extra Large/XL" should be for 6000 and up sized reels. I think the Large sized cases may fit the 5000 (and maybe 4000) reels best.

first catch on the reel, and it broke. will not reel with any pressure on the line. luckily the fish was hungry and ate the bait on my other rod also. looking for return info
