My birds were obsessed with this suet. It was gone within a week! It attracted nuthatches, woodpeckers, and I'm sure others I just didn't catch a glimpse of. It did attract house sparrows like crazy unfortunately but that just comes with birding I suppose. It did not melt on warm days and stayed very compacted. I will definitely buy this again!
I recently put out the Pennington Feeding Frenzy No-Melt Suet Dough Woodpecker %26 Songbird Suet Cakes and it didn't take long before the birds found it. Within a day, I had woodpeckers, finches, and a few other little songbirds visiting regularly. I really appreciate that it's a no-melt formula. Even on warmer days, it holds its shape and doesn't turn into a greasy mess like some other suet cakes I've tried. It fits perfectly into my suet basket and is easy to swap out when it's finished. It seems fresh and high quality, and the birds go through it pretty quickly — which tells me they definitely approve. I'll definitely be keeping these stocked in my backyard setup.
Is a bird lower and I have a bird around the house this is also a good addition. I love to watch the birds coming in and out and this is easy to put just leave it there and it will stay a long while. It's a mess freein a nice pack. It has a good value.
Pennington's Woodpecker and Songbird Suet Treat is an excellent choice for any bird-lover looking to attract a diverse array of species to their garden. This 10 oz. suet cake is packed with the high-energy nutrients that both woodpeckers and songbirds need, helping to fuel their active lifestyles. Its convenient cake shape fits most standard suet feeders, making it a no-fuss addition to your bird feeding station. The formula is a proven favorite, ensuring your backyard visitors will keep coming back for more.
The suet has a short ingredient list with no unnecessary filler. The block was firm whe I removed it from the packaging and did not crumble. I like that this suet is suitable for a variety of birds. My favorite feature is that it is a "Bo melt" dough so I can use it year round.
It's ok. Nothing beats the hot pepper suet for my birds. But since it's frequently out I got this kind. I just took off a star because the birds usually argue over the suet feeder. And it only lasts three days tops..This lasted a while. I'm not sure all birds or even so many like peanuts.
This is stated as no-melt suet which it is during cold or cool weather. It melts down in warm weather though. I have woodpeckers who love it in the winter. I give it 5 stars in the winter but only 3 in the spring because it doesn't last and it makes a mess.
This product is usually as expected and the birds enjoy it. This particular package was dried out and very hard. I seemed that there was not enough suet or some other manufacturing problem. It could be that is was just very old and dry. I will keep buying these, though.
I just got this and put it out but it definitely must be some expired old stock, like OLD from last yr or before. It was dried up and hard as a rock, so old %26 dried up that it had sawdusty crumbs in the package. I have bought literally hundreds of suet cakes yr around to put out and they are usually firm to stay together but soft and somewhat doughy and greasy to the touch. I put it out anyways (Maybe the woodpeckers can eat it) lol %26 we shall see, but I think from here on out I will buy in person elsewhere.
I know this is a great product because the birds eat it up when we've purchased it and another variety, same brand before. However, we did not receive either one that we ordered. Apparently, the picker of the items ordered does not know much about birds and the products they thrive on in the winter. The birds are hardly eating what was delivered. What a waste.
