Pennington Recipe Selects Shelled Peanuts for Birds and Wildlife, Wild Bird Food, 5 lb Bag, 1 Pack, Dry

These peanuts were a good value and the squirrels love them. I ground feed birds under cover of a shed and of course, the squirrels want in on the action. The birds and squirrels wait for me to put out their free meal in the morning and as long as there is food for everyone, they get along great. I have a morning dove and squirrel that have been eating together for a long time and once rush hour is over, they like to sit together quietly and casually eat. This is the brand I have been buying for years but they have changed the packaging. Still the same great product.

I bought a bag of these before a cold snap hit (- 40 degrees a few nights). The birds need fats to help them stay warm during freezing temperatures. My beautiful Raven friend of 12 years was happy for the extra treat that I put out back daily for her and the other birds. She made a few trips to cache them and dog food :) I always feed them dry dog food , hard boiled eggs, peanut buttered bread, and scraps. The Blue jays , Starlings , Chickadees , Crows enjoyed them too.

A beautiful elegant handbag! The color is a soft pink and cream and can go with everything. The size is just right since I no longer carry the kitchen sink in my handbag. After retirement I opt for smaller handbags that can carry a cell phone, a wallet and a compact and lipstick. This one does all that!

I bought these specifically for the smaller birds like finches, wrens and sparrows. To make them even easier to eat I crush them into little pieces. The larger birds and squirrels are content with the whole unshelled peanuts. I received an older bag type not the one being displayed but confirmed with the company that it was new stock as the change over to the new packing had just started. Overall the neighborhood critters give it an A thumbs up... :-)

Would have given 5 stars because last bag I got the peanuts were pretty puny (small). If I would have reviewed that bag it probably would have been a 3 start review. Since that hasn't ever really happened with this brand before I decided to give it another shot. And glad I did. The peanuts were back to a good size and good quality peanut. Despite the one time inconsistency this is really a 5 star quality bag of feed for the price.

They are peanuts for wild critters, so it's a hard product for ME to review. I thought I was buying peanuts in shells - oops! However, I scattered some of these for the birds outside my office, and while they were a bit snobby at first, they ended up coming around to them. The crows are not at all into these naked peanuts, but the jays and woodpeckers seem to be grabbing them up - especially if I spoil the birds by putting the peanuts in the oven for a few minutes to toast them before serving. Who am I and how did I become this way? Oh well. Simple pleasures.

This is a newer brand of shelled animal peanuts for Walmart to sell that I have now purchased a couple of times for my backyard songbirds and squirrels. FYI: the neighborhood raccoons and opossums enjoy them also--an added benefit! They are, in general, a good quality product, The peanuts come thoroughly shelled and 'clean'. Some (a small minority) do appear shriveled and dried up, but the majority look fresh. The peanuts are eagerly consumed on a daily basis and seemed to be tolerated well by the animals. They are shipped in a plastic bag, arrive intact, and I store them in that same bag with a tight clip on the bag to keep any bugs or a lot of air out of the bag.

The peanuts are clean and smell fine. They are smaller then typical peanuts and a weirdly squishy. The birds didn't love them as much as the other peanuts I get and picked around to find ones they liked and they left a bunch behind which unusual. So, I won't be purchasing these again.

This bag of peanuts was filled with tree twigs, bark and rubbish. I dumped it on the ground so what nuts were in it could be picked thru without putting all that trash in my feeder. I contacted Pennington and they replied with "this happens at the end of the run". Well if they know it they should throw those away. Won't buy Pennington Peanuts again.

My birdie friends love peanuts, it's their caviar. I'd love to know when peanuts became sticks and branches according to Pennington. I've been purchasing Pennington for about 9 years. In the last 4 years, I've noticed an increase in sticks and branches in all the bags I've purchased of various types, and fewer peanuts, nuts, seeds. Every single bag, the ratio of sticks and branches is only becoming greater and greater, with fewer and fewer peanuts. This may be shocking Pennington, but I'm not aiming to pay for sticks and branches, I have plenty of free sticks and branches in my yard if that's what I wanted to "feed" the birds. Have some integrity for a change. I've taken down all of my feeders, with the exception of the hummingbird feeders, because I am not going to pay for sticks and branches.
