I have tried a lot of calming supplements on my buddy sour horse, but they all made him "dull" and sort of lifeless when I rode. Sane & Sound worked wonders! I started feeding two days before we traveled and kept him on the recommended twice daily dosage for the whole clinic weekend. My horse showed improvement each day in how he handled his buddy leaving him, going from his usual screaming/pacing, to calmly munching on his hay and not caring that he was left alone. The best part is I had a horse who was still his usual self in the arena. This has definitely become my go-to calming supplement!
Tried the pellets day befor show. No spookiness. Gave paste show day and just pellets next 2 days. Circuit champion!
My horse can get anxious in new situations, so when I recently moved farms I knew he would need something to help calm his worries and ease the transition. I have used Perfect Prep pastes in the past with great success, but never the pellets so I figured I'd give them a try. I gave my horse the pellets the night before and day of our move, and for him they worked even better than the paste! I continued feeding these pellets morning and night for the first few days my horse was in his new home, and I feel they helped him tremendously with the adjustment period. I will definitely be keeping these on hand to use during any stress-inducing situations in the future!
Love this stuff to take the nervous edge off without having to lunge them to death. Happy horse, happy rider. A bit pricey, but worth it!
I bought this product to use when I am hauling my horse to shows. He gets nervous about new places. I start giving him this about 4 days before and then he will get a dose at the show to settle in. I have noticed a big difference in his attitude.
I have a 3 year old OTTB and his attitude on life and his new career has changed dramatically since he has been on Sane & Sound. He loves the taste and I highly recommended this product!
This has had a positive impact on my super sensitive horse, BUT, the 10 lb bucket does not contain 120 day supply. It contains 120 SCOOPS. If given as directed (2 scoops twice a day) it contains a 30 day supply. This makes each day's dosage cost $9.44 per day - not $2.36 per day. I'm happy with the results but plan to experiment with cutting the dosage back to make it more reasonable.
We purchased this to use for two horses before a large show. Seemed to work a bit at home but not at the show. 2 horses 7 days of supplement $165. We don't need to try this again. Only one horse would eat it without enticements so I wouldn't mark it as highly palatable.
I absolutely love all of the Perfect Prep Pastes! I have used them at every horse show I've been to over the last year and I see a huge difference in all of my horses. I thought I would give the Sane and Sound Pellets a try However the Warmblood I bought it for who will eat just about everything wouldn't touch it. I even tried mixing it in applesauce, but then he chewed it up and spit it out. I figured I'd see if I could use it on my other 2 horses, another warmblood and a morgan. They both turned their noses too. I guess I can't blame them though. It does have a funky smell to it…
Paste worked very well. However, my horse will NOT touch his feed if the pellets are mixed in, even as a wet mash with molasses added. Consequently, the expensive cost of a bag is wasted money.
