I received the PETACARE Double-Sided Deshedding %26 Dematting Undercoat Rake for free as part of a reviewer program. It is really effective in getting the thick undercoat common in shepherds. It is a metal claw-like rake that looks ominous, but trust me, my dogs fur is so thick it never even comes close to touching her skin. Of course, one has to exercise COMMON SENSE and use it gently the first few times, like around the shoulders and chest. You;ll find that in tougher areas like the butt cheeks, and the thigh areas, dogs stretch into and seem to really injoy the brushing. It's a great, effective, and simple to use device and a bargain at $6. One thing I would change is make the teeth smoother and maybe even longer for coated breeds like German Shepherds that are SHEDDERS
Two of my cats tend to be quite picky when it comes to brushes, but all of them quite like this one. It definitely loosened a bunch of fur from their undercoats. It was a little tricky cleaning out the fur from the brush, but not overly so. My cats are definitely shedding more after using this, but I'm guessing that's because the brush loosened quite a bit of fur. I'm guessing that if I brush them consistently with it that it will definitely help with shedding in the long run. And if nothing else, they all seem to enjoy getting brushed with it, which is a win in and of itself. My only other note is be prepared to get a ton of cat/pet fur all over yourself when you use this!
It seems to work fine. Its actually bigger than I thought so I like that. I tried it on myself first to make sure it did not pull at hair . I like it. But Ive one dog in particular that needs it most and I havent got after him yet. The other 2 dogs enjoyed it.
I tried this brush on all of my animals and all my friends animals! I have a beagle that has shorter hair that it worked great on and I have long haired cats that it also worked great on! I'm truly surprised this brush works on such drastically different hair types. I even met a little hat out of the hair I took off my cat :)
This is designed with an easy-grip, non-slip handle for comfortable and precise grooming sessions, reducing hand fatigue due to its ergonomic handle. It's suitable for both cats and dogs of all sizes and hair types (thick, long, short, medium). Made with high-quality, durable materials for longevity, this handle is capable of handling stubborn mats and thick coats. I appreciate the two sides: a 9-teeth side for dematting and smoothing tangles, and a 17-teeth side for quick thinning and deshedding of the coat.
excellent pet comb, gets down to the undercoat. much better than other pet combs we've had. well made, with quality materials.
I was hoping this review would be an easy one to do, but there are many factors to include. First, I want to explain briefly the situation with my cat. She has gingivo-stomatitis which leaves her mouth very sore. She doesn't groom herself and ends up with a lot of small mats and excess hair. I saw this comb and thought it may work. It does, but it doesn't. It works well on her back and sides, but it does not work for any other spots. No instructions come with the comb, but I discovered it works best against the hair growth. I will say, my cat absolutely loves being combed with it and purrs loudly as she flops all over the place. This product could be improved by making one side of the double-sided comb differently. I would recommend one side have shorter teeth, closer together. Those tender and delicate areas need a little more care, and the space between these combs leaves me afraid she will get cut by the blades. The construction is pretty good even though the handle is put together slightly askew. Overall, I think it is a decent tool, but I personally think it is better suited to a medium to large dog, not a cat.
This thing reminds me more of a razor or fruit peeler than a dog brush! Very sharp and tends to get tangled up in thick fur. Not pleased. *I got this item free for my honest review*
I have a german shepard mix, larger size dog. He's not a fan, He tries to bit at it, and it gets caught in the longer fur and pulls. The device is made well, But its not one size fits all.
NOT FOR CATS! The bristles are too large for short haired domestics and probably won't work for long haired. Must use outside because the cat fur flies everywhere with nothing to hold the fur. The cats did like the scratch, but I have a better and more gentle brush that has finer teeth and holds the hair until released. OKAY FOR DOG: My short haired, thick coat dog like the brushing, what dog doesn't. Again, any loose hair flies about and the metal bristles requie caution to keep from causing pain. There are better brushes available. This may work for a matted long hair coat before using a gentle grooming brush.
