Petmate 290724 Portable Pet Home Mini

I had discovered these fantastic pet carriers 12 years ago. I keep buying for friends as gifts or as charity for local shelters. Screens on all sides, smartly engineered and utilized also as a “bedroom”. Petmate carriers are spacious (size appropriate) tall ceiling vs those awful plastic pack a cat in (shameful) Petmate has all sides windows, velcro, front door is a zipper screen window and additional door zipper to completely open the entire carrier—front n back. Terrific access to pet. No dragging them across the carrier. High quality material, durable, the skeleton is strong, canvas great, wipes clean and hasn't faded after 12 years. The side screens and BACK screen is brilliant for airflow during our drives to avoid car sickness. It's really helped my kids with more airflow. Faux wool matt. I reinforce the bottom for more stability. Why? My fur kids have arthritis. When I place the carrier without a solid board on the bottom, naturally will “curve” to the inclined car seat which is an undesired effect for arthritic pets. Best to keep a small wood board, add in an inch thick pad from any fabric store cover it with material such as a pillow case, Now you have a stable bottom that's soft and comfortable. Car rides are challenging. I eliminate any stress on their little bodies as much as I can. I enjoy the 4-corner tabs with the stakes for outdoors always placing carrier on a plastic bag first avoiding dirt and ground condensation. It's my mission that all pet parents throw out those cage hard plastic crates that are claustrophobic for any animal to be in. There is no room for them to move around or lift their heads. With Petmate, my fur kids have plenty of room to re-position. Hope you find this helpful. PS. I use vinegar to spot clean to avoid creating any toxic vapors. After an hour, the vinegar smell goes away. I also use a fan when drying.

I have bought 4 in the last ten years. Absolutely love it for the car easy to secure to seatbelt as well as Home. They run right in ! I wouldn't buy any other kinds.

This kitty "sanctuary" is brilliant . . . With its removable, padded "sherpa" floor, it is open and airy so my favorite felines can not only see out in all directions via roll-up window / door flaps secured by velcro, but it is collapsible and fits in it's own carrying case that measures about a foot square x about three inches wide when not in use. With the open / closed window features allowing for an open view or not, It provides a very safe environment that is vital for any kind of travel.

My Hedgehog Hazel loves it! I always take her to the stores where your allowed to take animals in that carrier. One time, We were driving home from Pet Smart and I looked in her carrier and she was so comfy and cosy, She was sleeping gently! And when its cold, I put a small blanket in there for her. Omg. Best carrier you could ever ask for if you have, Hedgehogs Rabbits, Ferretts, Minature Dogs, Etc. So go buy it if you need a carrier for your small pet! - Elly and Hazel

This is perfect for our 3 pound chihuahua. It is small and probably wouldn't work for a pet much bigger than that but if you have a small pet like we do this one is perfect.

Perfect size, but overpriced in my opinion. I could have gotten cheaper on ebay but I needed several more items to go with item I had to purchase, in order to get free shipping.

This would be great for ferrets and other sm mammals, but didn't hold up so well for my chihuahua. As other reviewers have stated it is ALOT smaller then you would think. When you roll up the liners the velcro does not match up, so the flap just falls back down. So it was not very functional as a travel crate. The soft material caves alittle with any real weight.

This is a nice carrier, stable enough to use for short car trips or at home. They weren't kidding when they said "mini". It is very small. My 2.5 lbs yorkie puppy fits comfortably in it but she is fast outgrowing it. So unless your dog is going to be around 3 lbs full grown this is not a carrier you are going to be able to use long term. Other than that it's a pretty good product.

I was disappointed with the product. It is the smallest animal carrier I have ever seen. It is much smaller than it appears. You could not even put a cat in this carrier. It is only cheaply made and the handle is not sturdy enough to last very long.
