PetSafe® Disposable Litter Box

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I foster kittens/cats, including ferals, and have had trouble finding good boxes to use - the boxes from canned food aren't high enough and sometimes leak. This box was very sturdy, and litter didn't get all over, which is great. It's also big enough that they were able to move around (and not "miss"). Highly recommend this box!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have an indoor cat with a litter box. We are remodeling and had to open up outside walls and change out doors and windows; a weekend project. Our kitty would have to spend the weekend safely in our bedroom. This disposable litter box was the perfect solution! I was very happy that he was using it, and that I didn't have to lug his litter box and litter around the house. We will definitely use this for similar projects and I'm going to keep one on hand for traveling emergencies.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My wife and I regularly visit her parents' house for maybe one weekend per month, and of course our fur baby has to come with us. This product helps so much, because it is so portable, and it means that we don't have to risk shelling out the cash for buying a new permanent litter box that might get trashed because it only gets used over about 12 weekends each year. Overall, here are my plusses and minuses: Plusses: 1. easily portable - packs small 2. disposable 3. easy to clean 4. simple to use 5. made of biodegradable materials, so that's good for the environment, won't fill landfill space for the next few thousand years. 6. our cat digs it! 7. EXCELLENT odor control! 8. Comes with EIGHT (8) disposable litter scoops that work reasonably well, so you don't have to buy a litter scoop! Minuses: 1. There are giant holes and crevices that litter crystals WILL get kicked through when your cat uses the litter box. 2. This means that unless you use packing tape or something else to cover those holes and crevices (which we eventually did), the litter will gradually make its way from inside of the box, to outside of it. (see the photo of crystals on carpet from what was left outside of the box after only 1 day of use)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently spent the holidays with my son in Chicago. I decided to take along my cat, Zelda. She is aging and currently having some health issues and I felt she needed more attention than my daughter checking on her only once a day. My decision to take her along was made much easier with this Disposable Litter Box. I did not cherish the thought of lugging her litter box from home in my new car. Every thing is contained in one box. It was fairly easy to set up and keep clean and then I threw it away before coming home. I would highly recommend this if you are planning to travel with your cat.

I gave it a 4 because it doesn't hold up.. I wished it would be a little stronger made.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product over a week ago and over all I love it! The litter is perfect! I habe a stinky kitty and it works well on covering the smell. The box and scoops over all work great however, I have one suggestion, put a wax coat on the inside of the box (similar to a chicken wing box). I say this because, my kitty urinates in the same place as the box stayed showing signs of wear (dark color). Overall, if I had a short trip and wanted to bring my kitty, I would buy this traveling kitty pan! The scoopers work great. The other thing I thought it's worth mentioning is my kitty doesn't normally kick litter out of the pan but, for some reason is now.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The box came nicely package and was easy to assemble. While the litter was still new my younger cats enjoyed playing with each other through the holes in the cardboard. I did eventually put tape over the hole in the back because when they would dig in the litter, sometimes it would escape through the hole. Sometimes small amounts of litter would come out on their feet but it was never too much. While my younger cats did use the box for urine, in the week I had the box no one used it for bowel movements. The litter absorbed the urine well and there was no noticeable smell. After a week It was also not easy to clean. Even after opening the flap, I had to try not to spill litter when I stirred it around. I collapsed the box and covered it with the original lid and threw it out. The small portable scoops that came with the box were nice to have. I could see using this box if I traveled with my animals and needed a box when I arrived instead of trying to travel with a box, litter, bags, etc. but for in home use, for multiple cats, I don't think it would be very economical. All in all it's great for short term use and travel but it's not something I'd use long term in my home.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Perfect odor control. The high sides keep the cat litter in the box and not all over the floor. There are only small openings on the top of the box so its a bit dark and hard to see to scoop, but other than that its perfect disposable option.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received my PetSafe Disposable Litter Box (PDLB) soon after learning about it a month ago. Since my wife and I travel to cat shows, the PDLB was truly a product that we were very excited about since we have been extremely happy with our PetSafe ScoopFree litter box (same crystals) for over 7 years. The PDLB represented a truly unique design that is portable yet unfolds to create an entire covered litter box. We recently adopted a new kitty and decided to use a bathroom for his acclimation period with the other cats. The PDLB was a perfect candidate for the task of taking care of our new kitty's bathroom needs. Setup of the PDLB is very straightforward and intuitive. Directions are clearly written on the box but not really necessary. The fold-able and disposable cardboard scoopers are very clever and work superbly (these should be sold alone in multi-packs!). The PDLB opens upwards like an accordion by merely grabbing the two hole on the top and pulling up. Two cardboard flaps fold down from the top to act at the front and rear of the covered litter box. The front panel has a large opening to accommodate large cats and is low enough for even our 4 month old exotic short hair to get in an out. Both the front panel and rear panel have tabs that "lock" into corresponding slots in the bottom tray to prevent the panels from moving and thus the top collapsing, at least this is what is shown in the directions. My PDLB front panel had tabs, but my rear panel did not and thus was not able to be locked in. This was a MAJOR problem as the kitty would kick the litter towards the back and out of the PDLB. I don't know if my PDLB was defective or if there is a major production flaw. Another potential (and realized) problem was also detected when filling the PDLB with the supplied litter. The bottom container is glued to the top folding cover but gaps still exist where litter can exit out. This problem is not as bad as the rear panel lacking the stated tab, but an issue is you're looking for super litter containment. Our kitty loved using the box and he did his "duty" quite diligently. Removing solid waste though is a little tricky since you'll have to either lift open the rear panel (easy with the tab, but that's not part of the design) or use a flash light and a little agility to scoop through the front panel entry hole. Although we only had to use the PDLB for two days, it could have easily lasted a week without any trouble. I *REALLY* wanted to love this product, but the issues mentioned previously (and in pictures) need to be addressed. The PDLB does work, but I think a little refinement in the design and fabrication is needed (version 2.0).
