We live on 2 acres of land, but wanted to give our dog Kobe some freedom to roam. This GPS wireless fence has been the best investment we could ever cut of meat, we are so pleased with the easy set up. Kobe is such a happy boy and enjoying being outside safely.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This item works great. It makes having a pet in a large area stress free! No gates or special barriers needed. The setup process was easy and seamless. I am so happy with this product and would recommend to anyone with pets. 5 stars!!
Still learning to use this. For the most part dog stays except when sees a person outside fence. He will stop then cross over. I also don't like that the battery only lasts 2 days.
I bought this a few weeks ago and I'm disappointed it didn't work for me. Since it uses GPS signals for the fence perimeter it changes the location of the perimeter you set. It also would alert in a spot I knew was no where close to the fence line. I decided to return it and go with the in ground fence since it will be more consistent and not confuse my dog of where the boundary is.
I really wanted the system to work for our dogs, as we have approximately two acres for them to run on. The customizable ability for the fence is wonderful. Collars aren't any more bulky than the last system we had. Setup was overall really easy and didn't take long. Now for the cons! The border on the fence varies by up to twenty feet. So this means that one time my dog can go twenty feet further than he can the next time, or vice versa. You also really do have to have the border twenty five feet from any buildings. The next con is that the collars would start beeping and correcting in the middle of our yard, well away from any borders, and well away from any buildings or trees, randomly. They also didn't work for one of our dogs - who still managed to get out and then lost her collar. I am presuming she got stuck and the collar broke because her collar was on snugly and was unable to slide off of her head when checked earlier. For reference, we don't live in a heavily wooded area and have much open space with some scattered buildings and a house in the middle of our property. The collars also could take a good amount of time to find G. P. S signal depending (on what I don't know).
Great product when it works. Battery life is poor and when the light turns orange for battery life if my dogs even step out of the house they are getting beeped at. App says 2 out of 3 bars for battery. Collar is orange but they can't get 10 ft out of the house.
I have a pet safe wireless containment unit that I have used for years with success. I decided to upgrade to this unit so my three dogs could take advantage of more of our yard (10 acres). I have been struggling to get it set up. I tried live chat multiple times and was never connected to agent so I called...she said call my internet provider and that was that. Apparently she works as hard as this fence does, not at all. Maybe I'll come back with an updated review on how great it is, but for now, it's in the box.
I was excited to try this out but honestly regret this purchase. The fence was very inconsistent and our poor dog got shocked several times in areas we set to be safe. Even if we set the fence around the entire open property, he still got shocked. Would never have recommend this product to anyone.
We purchased this item nearly a month ago and have found the following issues. Accuracy is terrible. I am familiar with gps and know there is a discrepancy between actual location and where a GPS says you are. This one however is off about 25ft on a good day and 80+ on a bad one. Battery life has never made it up to the 3 days advertised even if our dog is not testing the boundaries getting corrections. More like 30hrs max and sometimes 12-15hrs. Reporting from the device. You can have it alert you to boundary breeches or low batteries and we have only ever received 2 low battery warnings in the month. Causing you to constantly check the light. Overall this has been an extremely poor product and should have had better testing in less than ideal situations to give a more realistic expectation.
I've had this unit up and running for a week now, and this morning I put the dogs out with me while I detailed my car. I happened to catch my dog with the Guardian GPS collar closer to the road than what she should be. I called her to me, took her inside, took the collar off to inspect it. Looked at the app and noticed the battery still showed low, however the battery had charged overnight and was green on the charger, so full battery. I deleted the base unit and re-added it, but it will not add the collar now. I essentially have a useless collar, and had I not caught my dog in time, may have had a dead dog. I feel as though this system may not be up to par and will be looking into a different collar. There should a way to force a reset on these collars rather than relying on the app to do it. Because I can't connect the collar, it reverts to the old setup, but won't recognize the collar at all. Fully charged battery & double green blinking light, but no response when I try to add after a hard reset of the base unit. I've spent way too many hours trying to troubleshoot, set up, troubleshoot, setup, etc.
