I bought this for my son. With a third child just born he now has three kids in the back seat of his suv and when bringing his dogs to my house they would jump into the middle back seat. Well now with the baby there he didn't want them to do that, obviously, but their dogs. Hard to explain to them the change and why they couldn't do that. So I went to my trusty Walmart and found this. Well my son used it this weekend to bring the dogs over. He said it was easy to put in, easy to adjust and the large rubber disks on the top and bottom doesn't damage his car. Best of all it kept the dogs, two 50lbs pitties in the back, must to their dismay. I would definitely recommend this.

My dog, Rex, does not sit still in the car, and he tries to jump from the front to the backseat. I decided to give the Tubular Barrier a try for his safety and my sanity. I was thrilled that it was easy to put together and that it fit my station wagon's rear section well, and it seems sturdy and reliable to keep my dog in place in the back of the car. I can drive in peace, and I love that my dog is in the back where he can't track mud and fur all over and risk getting hurt jumping back and fort in between seats. I was a little intimidated when I first received, there were a few parts and I thought oh no. But instructions were easy and it went together in about 10 mins. Now that it is assembled I love it! Basically I just put in the upright posts in the car and then the Tubes just snap into place. Takes up very little space in the garage and I can just grab and use it when I need it. I tried this Tubular Barrier in my Subaru Outback. It was easy to set up and very sturdy. I have 4 dogs and two are pups, so containing them in the back cargo area was an important safety issue. This would fit easily in a bigger SUV. MY Outback is rounded, but my husband was able to fit it in with little problem [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I initially received a defective unit, but these things happen. After a quick chat with their customer service they sent another one out right away. So great customer service. The replacement unit went together very easily. It was not an ideal fit in my car (Honda Fit, 2013), but it DOES fit. I will probably do a bit of modification to the uprights so the top 'feet' can sit at an angle along the car ceiling so I can use it with the back seats still in the upright position. My dog doesn't ACTIVELY try to get through the bars, so I cannot truly attest to their restraining power. But without this my dog WOULD be up in the drivers area, so it works for me. No excessive rattling even on bumpy roads... no more than another other add-on to a vehicle. I have noticed that after a few trips you will want to re-tighten the crossbar supports to keep everything in place. They don't come loose right away or anything, but they can loosen a bit over time. Overall it does what I need it to do... just don't think you are getting something custom made that will solve all your problems. Every car is different, so anything 'universal' must be taken with a grain of salt.

This is an easy-to-install barrier that works pretty well. I would prefer smaller spaces between the bars and it make a slight metal banging noise as the car drives, but overall a nice safety pet product. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This is a great dog barrier but eventually the end caps fall off and then get lost and the barrier is no longer useable. Unfortunately, it appears that you can't buy replacement caps, but rather have to buy a new barrier, which I won't do.

I would not recommend this pet barrier. Too many moving parts and finicky to put into place. Easy to lose parts that are not available to purchase. My medium-sized dog (like the one in the product photo) was able to crawl through the bars. I ended up throwing it out, which is something I rarely do with larger purchases. I purchased a cheaper barrier with fewer parts and a mesh.
