I placed it inside my sliding glass door in 5 minutes! It was.so easy! And then my friend helped me secure it and now im able to lock it in. Its perfect and my puppy loved it!
This doggy door has exceeded my expectations. It was very easy to install and worth every penny. However, like others have said buy better weather stripping.
This door is top quality and looks great with my decor. I have a large 111 lb Rotti-Poo and he has managed to maneuver through the door with no issues. To fully secure it to the track to prevent any movement with usage I added pieces of styrofoam from the packging to the gaps along the frame. Estectically, it looks fine per my guest, as they thought it was part of the framing joints. I highly reccomend this product.
I had a PetSafe dog door for the patio door before. I had bought the Large Xtra Tall since I have greyhounds. Well, over the years, as my girls got older, they had a little more trouble stepping over the threshold of the door so I ordered a new door - this time an Extra Large. This product is wonderful. It is exactly as it is described, made very well, and is durable. I had my previous door for 6 years for my two greyhounds and numerous foster hounds running in and out constantly. I highly recommend this brand.
Quality product. We didn't even screw it in, and works fine. Flap is a little sturdy for my cats to come through so I replaced with a clear shower curtain liner square and works perfect (suggestion!). Also instead of using the black seal strip, I just used a foam weather strip and works great (in Florida so no cold weather).
Overall I consider this a good product. I agree with other reviewers that you will want to buy extra weatherstripping to use for the gap between your slider and the panel, though it's not that big a deal. The flap works and usually catches properly. My main issue is I haven't been able to get my cat to use the door on her own. She only goes out when I hold the flap open for her. She is 15 years old, so it is probably just harder to train such an old cat.
I installed a PetSafe door in my three panel glass door, without any issues. The brackets went in easily, the insert was placed and anchored without issues. I did opt to use the original sliding glass door locking mechanism, as there wasn't a good place to anchor the one that came with the insert. Also, I picked up some rubber weather stripping from a hardware store to seal the gap between the panel and the door (as was reported in a number of reviews). The install is solid and the dogs enjoy having the ability to go in and out at will.
This Medium doggie door is for small dogs. My Boston terrier could not even attempt to fit through a 12 inch hole. Had to return and order a LARGE version for my mini Aussie and small Boston terrier.
Having this insert for my sliding glass door is a great idea but it's not as “easy” to install as the description leads you to believe. It did require tools and drilling but since I had done my research prior to buying it, I knew that ahead of time. The flap does not always catch the magnets perfectly every time but so far that's been a slight inconvenience. I did purchase the additional hardware that was needed for a recessed glass door as indicated in the description however that same hardware was in fact included with the insert although everything I read said it wasn't. I wrote to the company and they refunded me the amount I paid for the additional hardware. I only mention that so someone else won't have that same issue.
I purchased this pet sliding glass door insert expecting it to integrate with my existing sliding door lock, but the product is not as described. The panel does not include any locking mechanism that secures it to your existing sliding glass door. The only lock included in the box simply locks the pet panel itself in place — it does nothing to secure your actual door. There is no adapter, no extension piece, and no hardware that allows your current lock to function. The only option they provide is to remove your existing lock plate from the wall and reinstall it onto the insert panel, which is not a practical or secure solution. For the price and website description, I expected a complete and compatible locking system. Unfortunately, this product falls short and does not provide the security or functionality advertised. Don't waste your money.
