I looked around and this is the only pet door with the option for buying an extension in the middle. We have thick block wall and drywall which made the "tunnel" length a little over 10". We used this door for our cats and bought the extender tunnel. Placed the door high so the dogs dont bother them. I was afraid to put a door in but after i looked at the instructions they made it super simple and easy!
I bought the newest version of the in wall size large door for my 90lb Rottweiler. Install was fairly simple although instructions on how to cut sheet rock could have been better. All in all the door is well made and my dog and me are much happier that she can let herself out.
Haven't had a chance to install it yet, but it seems good. Have had these in the past. They assist with keeping your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer, helps to keep other curious creatures out, provides another level of security.
Easy to install.
I already had the same doggie door installed so it was an easy plug-in play
The wall entry pet door is something that my family has benefited from for years. We've had 2 large breed dogs since we moved into our house in 2007 and once we fenced in the yard, the dog door was the next thing we added. The freedom it provides by not having to get up to let the dogs out of bank into the house is great. This version is built using ABS plastic. The previous version had a metal frame that held the door flaps. I'm curious to see how long the plastic holds up to Minnesota weather changes and 2 large breed dogs coming and going. Fortunately, the opening in the wall was the same size as the old door so I didn't need to adjust the opening. (I won't discuss the effort needed to remove the spray foam...) Installation was pretty straightforward. I decided to forego using the Google books in favor of using construction screws into 2x6's sister to the studs on either side. This gives a much stronger grip for the door frame to be held up. We originally had a 2x4 across the bottom of the old door, so I didn't need to add one for this door, which I personally recommend because the dogs use the bottom of the door frame as a step. There is a gap between the inside and outside frames in my installation, but it is very small (fraction of an inch). I added spray foam around the outside of the entire door frame before screwing the outside frame in place, to prevent moisture build up due to lack of insulation around the door. Once the door was in place, I added silicone exterior caulk around the door frame inside and out to seal the gaps between the door and my siding. Overall, I am pleased with the door so far, and I am happy that replacing the flaps will be much easier with this version compared to the previous.
I had to put through a wall to outside of house. The extension I bought did not fit that well. Sure would be nice if they made of plastic instead of metal and it fit snugly. Also, finding a way to fasten all pieces together from INSIDE the door would be really nice.
This dog door looks great, but the flaps don't catch at the magnet so a lot of air comes in if I forget to help it connect.
The doggie looks nice and it was very easy to install, however the wind blows the flaps open and that never happened on my old same brand doggy door. i will be contacting the company.
This seems low quality compared to the existing petsafe dogdoor that I have. the plastic is cheap, flaps are cheap and the magnetic strip is not very strong. I am hoping to return and get the aluminum one.
