I insulated it and it is perfect... it's housing a family of feral Siamese...Mom, Dad and 3 kittens..
Nice, but had to let it air out in the garage over two weeks first. The strong chemical smell is horrible.
Assembly was easy enough, easier with a helper. Once complete it's sturdy and nice looking. This is a much better option than the cloth tent type that don't last. So far our ferals really love it. Recommended!
Well made. Would buy again.
Both the appearance and the additional space appeal to me. The item took far longer than anticipated. All exit doors should ideally be left open at first, without the plastic curtains. To make access easier, I taped the plastic door curtains to the top of the entrance and exit doors. My cat primarily uses the large left door and prefers the doors to be completely open. He doesn't sleep in the cat house yet; he just eats there. Since I put his food inside the cat house instead of outside, the house does keep birds and other animals away.
I would have given 5 stars had the company responded to my inquiry on a missing part. Since the house is missing a piece I cannot give 5 stars on its appearance either. Overall it's serving its key purpose of giving our cat shelter when needed.
I do like it but was a bit disappointed in the amount of pieces that were damaged. The outside has a lot of scratches and looks like a K engraved in it. One piece had a screw that was already screwed in too tight and cracked the wood. I didn't want to do the work to return it. It's 45 pounds and a lot of mess. The instructions could have been a lot more descriptive since there were not screw holes in a lot of the pieces. Assembly wasn't too hard with a drill.
You have to be extremely gentle while assembling. The wood is fragile and will split if you screw too tight. Don't assemble in the house because you'll end up with piles of loose asphalt from the roof. The smell of the house is awful. Strong chemical type odor. It's been over a week since I put this outside and the smell is not leaving. The cat will NOT go in it at all. The bottom escape door does not swing freely and it think the only way a cat would be able to get through is if it's in extreme panic mode. I'm now stuck with a stinky house that isn't being used by the cat that needed it. (She's currently using a cardboard box covered in contact paper to avoid rain 😢)
Beware! The paperwork stated it would take 1-2 people to put this together an estimated time of 30-60 minutes, after 6.5 hours it was somewhat together. We had broken, cracked panels we had to put in a claim to have 2 panels replaced, my husband fixed the other panels. This item was said to have pre-drilled holes, well, there were some pre-drilled holes, otherwise we had to drill at least 20 holes. Cheap, cheap wood (if it is wood). This pet house isn't worth buying. Very, very disappointed. Susan
