Philips Avent Natural Response Nipples, Medium Flow (Flow 3), 4-Pack, SCY963/04

I needed these for my 1 month old baby who wouldn't finish his bottle with the size 2 nipple. He needed this flow to drink his whole bottle.

Grandson loves these with the Avent bottles.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Avent Natural Response Nipple Set as part of the Stellar product testing panel, it has helped my little one of 8 months to sleep through the night. The previous nipple was a size 1 of a different brand it would leak everywhere and any chance it had. This nipple with its no drip tip has given him the chance to catch his breathe and not drown in the milk. I thought that with it being a big jump from size one to size three baby would have a really hard time keeping up with the flow but he didn't. It was a good flow just enough to help him drink what he needed and not extra. The large size of the nipple ready does make cleaning it. Easier than other brands. Highly recommend for any new babies.

But when my milk production dropped and I had to pump at work, we had to find a good option that would work well to transition between breast and bottle - because let's face is, FED is best. My two other sons are 23 and 17 years old, so I had a lot of research to do with all the developments and new products since they were little. I found Avent Natural Response, and it has been an absolute DREAM. I started with flow 2, and that has worked well for us from month 3, and still now at almost 6 months. I've tried three other nipples made by reputable brands noted for preventing gas and colic, but find these Avent Natural nipples preferable to the others, so much that I threw out the other brands! The material of the nipple is firm, but flexible. It has the perfect amount of "give" so that it's breast-like, but doesn't cave in. The venting on these nipples is incredible. When I took pictures, I found that while the cut is in the standard Y pattern, it's got a bit of a swirl to it because of the holes at the end of the design. We have had absolutely zero issues with gas, colic, or fussiness, regardless whether we use breastmilk or formula, and I fully attribute that to the venting and nipple cut design. I love that it doesn't drip or leak - even when shaking up the formula - so when baby takes a break from chugging so he can catch his breath, he doesn't choke on a drippy nipple. Even the cover was thoughtfully designed with a flat top so the nipple is held flat against the lid. And then Stellar Reviews was kind enough to let me try and review Flow 3 for my honest opinion as part of their product testing panel. But I do find that Flow 3 is a little too fast for my combo-feeding boy. He gets a little too much at the start and will sometimes cough, and even once he does get a good rhythm going, milk tends to dribble down the side of his mouth. So we're going to stick with our Flow 2 for now, but once he gets a little older and his demands increase, we'll swap out for the Flow 3. If you're looking to combo-feed your baby, or need a seamless transition from breast to bottle for whatever reason, this nipple is absolutely your best option hands down.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've been using the Philips Avent Natural Response Nipple Set for a few weeks now, and overall, it's been a great addition to our bottle-feeding routine. The no-drip tip is one of my favorite features—it really helps prevent messes. I noticed my baby could comfortably pause during feeds to breathe and swallow without the milk continuing to flow, which made the experience feel more natural and paced similar to breastfeeding. As for the flow, it worked fairly well for us. It wasn't too fast, which helped avoid gas and choking, but there were times it felt just a bit slower than my baby wanted at 6 months (was gifted a level 3 nipple set). Every baby is different, but I think my baby needed a faster flow nipple. I think this flow would be perfect for younger babies just transitioning to bottles (2-5 months). I also appreciated the wide, breast-shaped design of the nipple—it was easy for my baby to latch onto, and I liked that it mimicked the shape of my breast. My baby takes these bottles well at daycare, and doesn't leave a mess. It was simple to remove the silicone nipple from the plastic collar for cleaning, since the wider shape made it easier to reach all the inner surfaces with a brush. What I liked most about these nipples was how they encouraged a more natural feeding rhythm. It felt like my baby was more in control, and that gave me peace of mind during bottle sessions. I took off one star just because the slower flow didn't always match our feeding needs, but I can absolutely see us using these again at a different stage or for a younger sibling. I love the bottles (the natural glass bottles are the best!), and overall I recommend the nipple set to any parent wanting the baby feed similar to breastfeeding. They are soft and seemed comfortable for my baby to use, but not too soft that he was able to collapse them easily. These nipples are also really easy to clean. The wide shape allows a brush to get in it to give it a good clean. The wide nipple also allows my baby to latch similarly to when he breastfeeds, which helps to defeat nipple confusion. The only problem with this nipple is that my baby is used to primarily breastfeeding with some bottle use. The medium flow was a bit too fast for him. I was able to pace him easily with these nipples when we realized he was getting too much at a time. Overall I would recommend this product to a friend or family!

My son was able to adapt to the bottle nipple very quickly. The no drip tip made it the bottle feeding experience almost mess free, and allowed my baby to pause to take a breather during feeds without coughing or wheezing. I felt like the wide shape nipple was easy to clean with our bottle brush and felt very natural to my baby who is also still breastfed, the flow seemed fast enough for his stage so he seemed very comfortable!

This nipple works perfectly with the bottle but was a bit too fast for my son to drink comfortably. It would collapse in on itself as he sucked or too much would come out at one time. The shape and contour are very similar to my own so he took to it eagerly, but I think he would need another month or so before he's ready for the level 3. I do love that it doesn't drip or spill everywhere if knocked over and it was easy to clean and remained the same after the dishwasher unlike some other brands.

My baby is currently 9 months old and we do a combination of pumped milk in bottles and nursing. My son struggled with these nipples as it still drips out pretty fast even without sucking. For breastfed babies it needs to be slower so they have to work for the milk more. My lactation consultant also said the slope isn't great for breastfed babies as it's not gradual enough. My second problem with them is the leaking. I'm not sure if it's the collar or what but sometimes it's fine. Other times it leaks from the collar like crazy. I'll check if it's screwed on correctly and it seems like it is but it's been frustrating at times. I received this nipple set from the Stellar Product Testing Panel.
